Could somebody give me a truck ride so I can see how it's like?

I want to see if I can endure 8-11 hours of sitting on a truck seat with seat cushion with a lot of exercise / stretching every 2 hours.

It's not that bad at all. I use to drive all 48 and never had an issue with sitting for long periods of time. I never stop to exercise as I figured walking back and forth at the truck stop was enough.

Doubt you would be able to stop every two hours. I am on my way back out again this October.... Have not drove a truck since the early 90's

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, lupe, but . . . no company driver can give you a ride, even if they want to, without written permission from their company and you signing a waiver ("If I get hurt, if there's an accident, I realize that I cannot sue you," etc.). Unauthorized passengers are illegal in trucks, IIRC. Even spouses and kids must be fully authorized, and again, if something happens, you and they have agreed to hold the company harmless. Sometimes, authorized passengers have to pass a physical exam. Pregnant women generally cannot ride with their husbands/boyfriends--there may be companies that allow it, I don't know.

Depending on his/her insurance requirements, you might find an owner-operator who would take you along for a ride, but you still might have to sign an insurance waiver.

An unauthorized passenger will get a driver fired PDQ. It's all about risk.

Actually a fair share of companies allow passengers. I am going with Werner and they allow imediate family members to ride anytime but you have to pay to have friends or wifes/gf's to go

Interesting. Thanks. I'm 100% in favor of family members going along, but do they have to sign waivers? What if they're pregnant? What does Werner charge?

It is a FMSCA regulation that no passengers can ride along in a CMV, without the carrier's written authorization. The only exception is if you are transporting somebody in your CMV in an emergency situation, i.e taking an accident victim to a hospital or to receive medical care, or taking someone who was stranded on the road during a blizzard or such to the nearest building, or public facility.

    ac120 Thanks this.
