Im stuck and have no idea what to do. I wanted to go to truck driving school here in South Carolina but i have no way of paying for it. I tried the wia grant but i was turned down for it and i have no way of getting a loan to pay for school. I was thinking of getting cdl sponsored training with a large carrier and staying with them for 3 to 6 months. Theres a lot of local companies in my area that offer local and regional work but im not sure if thats a good idea to switch companies like that. ANY OPINIONS OR ADVICE ON WHAT I SHOULD DO?

    mje Thanks this.

Thanks. I was thinking about going with prime. They seem to have a good training program.

Yea I know. I just didn't want to be gone 3 to 4 weeks at time leaving my son and girlfriend by thereselves. I think i will just suck it up and put my time in like everyone else. Im only 21 so I can handle it.

Just be warned that 21 might get in your way. A lot of companies like to see at least 23. Going to a company school might be just right for you. Nobody can tell you if you're going to like it or not. If I were you I'd go ahead with your plans so far and just plan for all the negatives you hear so some might not be such a surprise.

Yea thats another issue with my age. I spoke with schneider and prime already. I really want to go with Schneider to get tanker experience but since I can't afford school I will settle with prime.

Prime doesn't pay to bad starting out, with your situation, I would just suck it up, go with prime stay a year don't do their FLEASE and then go somewhere else if you want to, I highly suggest that you do not go with their lease problem I mean program! It has turned good guys into bad guys and every other thing anyone would like to think of!, But get out here runinng and get your dues paid, you can certainly go other places and make much less. Good Luck, read all you can read in this forum, It has a wealth of knowledge. Take Care.
