Driving a local truck otr.. No sleeper. A freight liner Columbia 120 to be exact. If you had the seats converted to where you could fold them down and sleep on them ... Being a younger male who is in shape could this work?? Plus this would save tons on gas and that means more money in the bank.

It will take a toll on you after awhile. The guys that do it get hotels. Being in shape has nothing to do with irregular sleep patterns and the comfort level on your body for sleep.

The DOT doesn't like a driver taking their 10 hour break in a day cab, and I think it's illegal.

DOT has specific regualtions on how big a sleeper must be and it must o be part of the driver compartment. A while Ago I heard about a car hauler converting the back seat of his crew cab to a sleeper. (under dot reg do to weight) He got busted one time for log violations since the "sleeper" wasn't wide enough. For off duty time to count to your 10 hour break, part must be in a hotel or at home. For you to log sleeper time it must meat dot standards for a sleeper in width clearance and length.
