Thanks! I checked into them earlier and it looked to me like a decent dedicated/ regional job. I'll consider looking into this further.

Thanks! Yea, the reason i have to make the career change is because I've roofed for 20+ yrs. And it's taken its toll on my lower back. I just can't do strenuous hard labor anymore. And frankly I've done it long enough to have had enough. I like to break a sweat but am not breaking my ### anymore. Thanks though for the input. It's given me a couple possibilities to think about local. I know a lot of people in the business all over CNY.

Yea, Brandson, I realized after posting i could've put a little more info in but i had to run. So i was hoping people could work around me not putting in that I'll be graduating a driving school next month and I live in central NY. other than those two things i think it's a pretty basic question. I know all about the new guy starts out at the bottom since I've been running a roofing crew for 17 yrs or so. The thing is that being so i have more than the average 25 yr old who's starting out and need valid input on companies who can closest to accommodating those 2 things previously stated AND being able to maintain my obligations. I'll make adjustments once i get as much helpful information as i can. Thanks for the input tho

Yea, i know companies do allow pets. My problem is once i think 'hey, i like everything i see with this company!'...####, no pets. Or, no pit bulls. Or, two weeks out. I'm, like many others, am just trying for the fast track of finding a happy medium by asking all you. I do appreciate your reply. Thanks

A lot of flatbed companies get you home every weekend and many ltl companies. I heard you dont want any more hard labor but after roofing unloading a truck can be easy. there are a lot of retail and food service jobs begging for drivers with an organized work ethic. You can be one of the make a good living be home every weekend driver right off the bat. I pretty much was.

    jcape08 Thanks this.

Get a local job. I got one straight from school, home every night and off weekends. Happens all the time, don't let anyone tell you that you have to go OTR.

    jcape08 Thanks this.

I live in CNY. Other than lucking in with an LTL company, the local jobs I've heard of are for 15 to 17 an hour, and I'd rather just stay OTR for that little.

I'm not trying to sound mean or defensive, bit being middle aged with work experience is not even close to rare out here. You're going for a job that most trained, monkeys could handle, and the average age of drivers is over 50. Young guys like me are in demand, lol.

    Try Swift.

LOL! Not offended! Truth is truth. Already decided not Swift. They seem to be the Walmart of trucking. Thanks for the help anyhow.
