Thanks. Hopefully we're testing out next Monday. If, God willling, we pass, then it's home for a few days to see the family. I'm missing them horribly, which doesn't help.

Send us good driving/backing thoughts on Monday....:biggrin_2554:

    HeY!?
    What about trainers?
I did exactly as you've described when I was training. But y'all don't need a couple of walkie-talkies if there's a CB in the Big truck.
Just pick a quiet channel, put the walkie-talkie in LOW power, and guide 'em right in.
Also comes in handy when one driver is away from the Big truck, and the co-driver can radio instructions from the shipping/receiving office --- a quarter mile away.

A great suggestion, and I'd expect no less from you, GH. :biggrin_25525:

Allow me to use myself as an example and possible answer to your question.
With about a year and a half Big truck truck drivin' experience, with a spotless record, I was asked to become a driver trainer.
At first I balked for the reason you've mentioned, my inexperience.
Long story short --- I was talked into it.
Short story long --- within about a year of training, I was turnin' out a good, quality product --- that being a qualified to take it from there rookie.
I was known as the "Mellowest Trainer" to the trainees, and the front office noticed that my trainees lasted longer than one year with the company. Several, I hear, are still with that company, known for providing one of the best training programs.

    So, I present the question,
WaS I "qualified" for the position of driver trainer?
Don't judge a cook by the cover of his cookbook.
    NopE!
The proof is in the puddin', ........ or sumthin' like that.

    Know what I think?
I think that I could do what I did was in large part as direct result of freshly remembering MY trainee days, and applying methods that worked for me, and invented a few along the way. No ego.
    HaiL!
    Even TRAINERS can still learn.
Every trainee taught ME how to better instruct the next trainee, and the one thereafter.

I don't recall any complaints about my actual drivin' experience bein' detrimental, though. And whatever I learned, well, ...... by golly, ........ there was a trainee learin' right beside me --- OR, she was backin' the Big truck. With me watchin' -- of course. :yes2557:
    NO!
    Not her ---- The equipment.

    Maybe, maybe not -------
Did she quit high school to attend Big truck truckin' school?
I quit high school 6 months prior to graduation, and look where I wound up.
Let that be a lesson. :biggrin_25523:
    Perhaps I shouldn' vote. :biggrin_25525:

    Ever heard of "payback"?
From the sound of some of these trainers, it isn't too much of a stretch to figure they probably don't, ..... shall we say, ....... "communicate" well with their dispatcher.

And remember what AfterShock told you about dispatchers having the ability of making or breaking a Big truck truck driver?
Bummers is, that trainer's(?) trainees/extra log book(s), -- suffer too (much?) as a direct result.
It is what it is, that's a fact.

You'll be dealin' with a LOT of different personalities.
The more y'all learn how to "handle" --
the easier Big truck truckin' becomes.

You have the makins' of a dream teamer.
Big trucks last, and remain dependable, for a LOT longer when driven smoothly.
Are you using you fingerTIPS when shifting?
Or the heel of your palm.
Don't grab it like a baseball.
    Slip-it --- not jam-it.
The perfect "float" isn't detectable, just a drop, or rise, in RPM.
    It's a BooTieFuL thang!

And, there'll be NO one around to wittness it. :biggrin_25510:

    YeAH!

    Ya reckon.
    Sure does, TrooperRat.
And I bet it IS (counter-productive).
    BuT!
IN his favor --- he DID have two years of some sort of experience. And look how much HE learned.
Can y'all just imagine WhO trained HiM?! :biggrin_2551:
I doubt I could agree more.

    YuP!
    Some call it a "feel".
And once that feel is aquired, it's a hoot to conduct backin' lessons at the various places y'all will be visiting in y'all's careers.
    Git 'er done.

And, like Lurch pointed out --- there WILL be daze when y'all can't even do a simple straight back.
And tomorrow, make backin' into haties look simple.
    Go figure.
    (My advice?
When the latter example happens, jump out and strut.
    YOU deserve it.
    And you KNOW it.) :biggrin_255:

    OhMY! :biggrin_2555:
    Isn't that assault and battery?
So, it's quite possible that you're a fugitive?
You quit one company because you assaulted your trainer there, and now you're movin' on to another?
    Is that right, so far?
Seriously, --- the LAW seems to support the rights of Big truck truck driver trainers who expect not to be slapped ANYwhere by ANYbody.
    Including YoU.
And even if they are, in fact, "lil punks" who were "seriously being disrespectful" to you, ------
Two wrongs don't make a right --- and, as an added bonus, it seems the
LAW would be on HIS side.
    Imagine that.

    Hmmmmmm
Is it just me, or does that sound kinda like
what you haulin' in your wagon?

No offense intended, but if a poster isn't forthcoming with a company name, there's often a reason for that. But it is a fair question, I suppose. And declining to answer is also fair.

    You sell yourself short, amigo.
    YuP!
I'da gave you a buffalo nickel.
And considered THAT a bargain. :yes2557:

    You're very welcome!
And, even better, what'cha are hearin' ----
    is the truth.

Take my word for it --- your WORST experiences will become your BEST trucker road stories.
You'll see --- and you'll (finally) laugh about it.
    I know.

    Keep watchin'!
That's another good way to learn.
If y'all can learn from other's mistakes, why not do it?
You'll get to where you hear yourself thinkin'
    No
    No
Don't turn it THAT way ---
    get back UNDER it.
    And YOU'LL be right.

    And we appreciate what'cher doin'.
    Positive?
How many volts you want, lady? :biggrin_25525:
Big trucks CAN be pretty small, HuH?

    Don't celebrate too soon.
Y'all might get docked next week, and get NO shower at all. :biggrin_25512:

    Cheese?
    We have that.
Sit down and vent a spell.

Expect that more often as you gain experience.

Might I say, y'all look marvelous?
    It's twue
    It's twue!! :yes2557:

Doesn't sound like Durrty understands. :biggrin_25512:

    "Pastiche"?
    Thank YeW!
Would you believe you're the first person to say that?
Up 'till now, I've been referred to as a Ponificating Dogmatist.
Pastiche is much easier to say.

But ultimately I'm a baaadd man -------> :naka:

Truth be told, her divulging the name of the company probably wouldn't help you in the least. It might be a great company and they got stuck with the exception rather than the rule, where their trainers are concerned. Doesn't matter to which company you go, you risk being placed with a know-it-all loudmouth like Willocouple did. Or you may end up with a surly cuss that treats yyou like something he just scraped off his shoe. She would be saving you from nothing by giving up the company, however, if the wrong person reads the post and she had divulged the info, who knows what kind of headaches she might face as a result.
    Something to think about.

    AfterShock Thanks this.

Aftershock, I've always enjoyed your rebuttal postings to other posts and I'm honored you took the time to post on mine. Thanks for all of the advice/honesty/perspective. :biggrin_255:

Joetro, thanks for the back-up. I figured descretion would be self-explanatory, but I guess I was wrong. :biggrin_25525:

Durrty, my experience doesn't reflect on the company good or bad. I haven't complained to the company, so they haven't had the chance to correct the situation. We knew we would have to have a "suck-it-up" attitude going into this. We also knew we could request another trainer, if we needed to, but chose to stick it out with this one, for a few reasons. So, I guess in part you're right. I'm just complaining at this point.... :biggrin_25516: and I admit, I felt better after getting some of it off my chest. It also helped a lot to get the positive reinforcement. Sometimes you just need to vent, so you DON'T blow...you know what I mean?

Tinglish, thanks for the encouragement! :biggrin_25519:

Believe me, it was my pleasure,
ANYtime --- and you're very welcome.
I have a feelin' y'all are worth the time I spent, and much more than that.
    Call it an "investment". :yes2557:
    With interest. :biggrin_25525:
