If trucking shut down for 30 days, or 60 days, and you had no revenue. Would you go broke? A lot of companies I deal with are going to essential personnel only, or are thinking of closing due to coronavirus. Many of my drivers are getting very worried about getting sick. What’s going to happen? What if truck stops can’t get fuel?

I drove hauling milk for 15 months up until June Of 2019. I bought a good used preemission truck September of 2018 with a plan of going out on my own.

Problem is I have a nice stack of cash that I see if I invest in getting that truck on the road and purchasing a trailer will only buy me a low paying job with a ton of wrenching and headaches plus the high risk of bankruptcy and liabilities.

I loved my short stint of trucking and was looking forward to working on my old truck to go out on my own but it makes Absolutely No financial Sense to do so .

Going to see a lot of broken dreams in the next year in and out of trucking.

Oh sure. Go right out of business.

Drivers get to go home on pay protected by Uncle Sam and current actions in Congress to provde two weeks for employees sent home due to closures for viral infections or other losses that are catastropic and related to the outbreak.

If manning is a problem then Uncle Sam has a percentage of the Nation holding CDL's but not employed or even DOT medical holders that they can call up into federal service to drive. Failing that they mobilize the US Military and reserves. Failing that they draft.

IF there isnt enough trucks or labor to unload them in really bad outbreak conditions then starvation and other problems begin to be a problem over time.

If you stopped the trains then we have 60 to 90 days coal on hand to generate power. Once the lights go out, then you are on your own. There would be no law.

    Could be worse.

In the Gunpowder River near White Marsh during the 1650's or so (Maryland) local indians planted gunpowder thinking they would grow a powerful crop.

    Nope.

If a guy can't go without revenue for 30 days he is already broke, just doesn't know it yet.
