This morning it was -12 out. Like most of this winter so far.

but I couldn't for the life of me push the button in. The trailer one went in just fine.

I finally got it in after warming the truck up and started heating up the cab.

do you think this was moisture buildup in the valve itself?

Never had this problem before and it sits outside every night.

Is the air dryer working, drain air tanks after they heat up.If water comes out of tanks change filter on air drier.

stupid question, but did it have enough air in the tanks?

Did it push in and just pop out as soon as you took your hand off, or did it not push in at all?

I would say that it just didn't push in at all.

yes full air and dryer works as it should.

I was pushing as hard as I could several times till it went. It wouldn't budge at all.

air dryer is new from the fall. I never have water in my tanks. It's the first air problem I've had this winter.

ill see if the problem exists Monday morning. If so I'll put in new buttons I suppose.

truck also was at 80psi when I started it, it doesn't lose much over night.

Do you heat your truck? Was it freezing temps in the cab? I don't think its ice build up, because if ice built up down the line you would be able to push it in and it would pop out. If it did ice at the knob, I cant imagine u couldn't break it with force...also that would require your truck to be under freezing at the dash. In my experience when they are frozen, you can push them in just fine, but the brakes wont relece.

If it were my truck I would wait for the truck to warm up and push it in until it gets warmer. If it still does it in warmer temps, i'd replace my tractor protection valve. In my experience, any problems down the way shouldn't prevent you from pushing it in. Id wait for warmer weather tho, just to confirm its not a cold weather ishue.

Truck sits outside for 14+ hours every night and weekends. Just with a block heater so the cab is just as cold as the outside temp. It's been negative temp most of this winter so far.

it just seems odd that it wouldn't push in no matter how hard I was pushing.

i got it in after I slightly warmed the cab. I was also stabbing my brakes and pushing the button at the same time and it finally went in.

i set my tractor brakes probably 100 times a day and that's probably a lowball some days.

Its going to be -17 Monday morning so I might just warm it up for a hour before I take off.

If thats the case, why not buy a 20 dollar electric heater at walmart to keep your cab warm. If your parking where there is power you could heat the inside to. I mean if the cab was warm ice wouldn't build up at the knob.

I've tried that but my truck doesn't hold the heat in that well because it's a sleeper, even with a 1500wt space heater. I back in my driveway so I don't have another cord that's long enough.
