Hey everyone, I plan on heading out to Springfield but I'm literally flat broke.. I was told the only fee there is to pay is the $100 license fee and whatever food I want. I was also told that there is a $200 advance if you need it. I was wondering what other expenses I might have and if I'd be able to receive the advance on day 1, or sometime before I would have to pay for the fee. Any help or additional info would be greatly appreciated, I want to get to work as soon as possible.
Couple of pre-training question

plan on the avg is 10 bucks a day for meals on the avg, better is stock up on those roman noodels at 25 cents a pack wont be a good meal, but then your not starving ether, next make sure all your paperwork is in order and then once hired do not get any advances they will eat your paychecks faster then you could make driving , driving too pay your advance off.

you really need to take about 200 with you. You will NOT get an advance till you get your learners permit. If you already have your CDL you will not get any advances at all, just your paycheck once you start with a trainer. I am assuming you are a student so you will need the 100 processing fee then I believe it is about 35.00 for the learners. When you get on the truck with your instructor then you can take the 200.00- per week advance. Starting that day so you can go to walmart and get food and toiletries. use it sparingly. Welcome and good luck, Hope I answered your question

Also, Prime will give you 3 squares a day while in CDL permit training, Not the hilton but it works

Thanks for the advice Everett, I'll have a few things I can bring from home to eat thankfully. Easy Steamer, you've definitely answered my question, that's exactly what I needed to know. I will be a student, that's correct; pretty sure I've got all the info I need now, hopefully I'll be entering the training pool within the next week or 2, thanks again buddy!

you are not alone... try a local food bank to stock some cup-o-noodles and peanut butter can be eaten by the spoonful for protien. Both easy to cary and utilize. Better times are comming.

Personally, I don't think it's wise to travel halfway across the country for a job interview without any means of feeding yourself or getting yourself back home. Plus, from what I'm reading on here, trucking should not be a career that you choose simply because you have run out of options to support yourself.
McBjork Thanks this.
