I run interstate in a truck weighing just under 26,000. A lot of my day is spent driving but I stop anywhere between four and ten times to unload cargo. Usually these are stops less than fifteen minutes. Right now I have been drawing a line down from line 3 to line 4 and flagging the city and state I am in along with the number of minutes I was actually stopped.
Like -- Fremont, MI 5 Mins --- Is that correct for a flag?
Also, I punch a clock and run less than 12 hours, do I still fill out the side of the log with the daily hours worked and my countdown from 60 on it?
I'm self taught and so far I think I have the gist of it from reading the reg books but I've run all local under 100 air miles rule before and the little things like this are confusing.

if you stay within 100 mile radius of your terminal you dont need log books. At least thats for N,C. I drove for 12 years in straight trucks, and even our local tractor drivers didnt keep logs

If you dont have a CDL you can go within 150 miles

I am usually in two or three states a day and I run a radius of 250 miles.

The 100 miles is straight line miles from your terminal. If your under that (100 air miles) and return to it (the home terminal) at the end of each duty shift. You may not need to log your time.

I've been running from Toledo, OH to Muskegon, MI a lot lately. Thats like 200 miles one way.

as far as the flagging goes that is right, if it is 7 mins or less, more then 8 you should show 15 mins on line 4
