My truck is not governed, and I only travel at 62 (100km/h) by choice.
I never had a problem in Texas, people all drive at different speeds and manage not to pile into each other. Although I do pick it up or back it off if I wind up beside someone else doing an almost a similar speed.
I have a standard dash cam. I have a sister in commercial insurance, she says the more cameras you have the better. One cam doesn't always tell the whole story.

Hi Sam, this is just a rumor, and I have heard of this working, is on a governed truck, if you push and release the throttle 3 times, it disables the governor for a time. You could try it, but be prepared to face the rath, and the results probably go right to the Pentagon. As far as driver facing camera's, we've been over that and over that. While I'm all for forward facing camera's, ( your best defense in a legal situation) I wouldn't drive a truck with a camera looking at me ( although, who knows, there could be a camera in the speedometer and you'd never know it) Here's the image they'd get from my truck,,,

@uncleal13, That is exactly what my Dad does, too. He is an O/O so he drives at his own pace. When he gets out of the U.P. and onto the freeways, he chooses to travel at 62-63MPH. He claims that's where he gets the best fuel mileage. At that speed with his 3.90 rear axle ratio sets the engine at about 1,550 RPM.
@"semi" retired, I've never heard of that before! If it does work, there is no way my company could find out, since they don't go into the computer and look at things unless a major failure occurs within the engine. We do have about 3-4 trucks that have the governor set at 65MPH for some reason, who knows. They're old and they really don't think too much of them anymore.
I also agree with your point and I am also for the FORWARD facing cameras. But I do not like that they watch (well mine doesn't, and I'm not about to tell my boss that) me. It's not just because I don't like being watched when I drive, or judged how/what I do when I drive, but I idle the truck all night long when I am sleeping in it, and if I wanted to, let's say, change clothes or something, I have to make an effort to cover up the camera so that in case they do watch it, they don't see me in the nude. lol. That's basically it, they don't need to see what I am doing at all, ever. I consider myself a very safe and defensive driver, but just like everybody out there, I do occasionally play with my phone (ONLY if there is NO traffic around my truck), I smoke so I'm always fumbling around for my smokes or my e-cig, and you know, things like that that I could get canned for. It's just how I am and it helps me stay more awake and alert if I am doing something other than starring at the empty road all day. I've told my Dad about the camera and he told me that he would be hanging his hat over it lol. And, on top of the driver facing camera, it records ALL AUDIO, too! So not only could they watch me if they wanted to, but listen to what I say as well! Or like when I brought a passenger with this week, the personal things we have talked about! I'm glad mine doesn't work... And I know there isn't a third party watching it live, if they did want to watch, they have to come inside the truck and get the memory card. I've already asked them about that and they said there is no way they can watch it unless they have the memory card. So I guess in an essence that makes me sort of relieved about it.201 Thanks this.
