Ok guys im really thinking about going to Prime. I have a couple questions.

    1. How long does it usually take after you been approved to head towards Springfield?

    2. I live about 2 miles from I40. Do yall run on 40 a lot?

    3. What kind of trucks does Company drivers get and is there an automatic tranny available?

Hello everyone, Dose anyone know, If you can look at the printout sheet, From the tractor or tractors, That you are interested in, At the time you are picking your truck out? What I mean by the printout sheet , Is the sheet that tells the , Safety Department and shop mechanics everything. Like for instance how hard the last driver drove the truck, For instance what rage of R P M S, He or She would be at while shifting, Or how long the truck would idle at, The times He Or She was not driving, Thanks Familyman.:biggrin_25511:

After I was approved, I was headed to Springfield 3 days later.

Yup. I-40 runs coast to coast (almost) and is I believe the 2nd longest interstate in the US. So we do run it often.

No automatics. Company drivers get whatever is given to them. Lease drivers get a choice, and once their first lease is up, they can choose their truck right from the factory if they want. Most company trucks are Cascadia's, Century's, and Petes. They seem to be phasing out the Century's. Some guys get a brand new truck right out of training, but most get a used truck. The trucks at Prime are kept in pretty good condition. Obviously it varies from whoever drove it before you, but you won't get a junker here.

As minimal as possible - idling the engine is a huge fuel waster. Managment suggests they'd rather have us turn the truck off rather than idle for more than a minute or two. All company trucks come with an APU that is much more fuel efficient - it runs air conditioning, heating and powers an inverter for electrical (AC power).

Nope... just drive safe, get your freight to where it needs to be on time, and you'll do good. Can't complain about the company side myself. I think most of the people who whine about Prime are loosers to begin with - that being said, my experience may not be yours, and some folks have bad experiences even with the best of companies.

What is the freight like for Prime through the Charlotte, NC area? Looking closely at Prime as second career and relocating in that vicinity. I'm wanting to locate somewhat close to an interstate within a consistent freight lane for Prime to increase the ability to get hometime in a reasonable manner. Thanks in advance for the info.
