My wife and I will start our CDL school soon. I've been researching companies for husband and wife teams. So far Covenant and Schneider seem to be our best options. In your opinion which one should we choose? Or if you have another in mind I'm open to suggestions. I've also looked into Averitt but they told me we would have to train separately and then spend at least a month on the rd solo before we could come together as a team.
covenant or schneider

I've read posts on here that say US Xpress is good for husband and wife teams. There's a husband and wife team on here who drive for them and their posts seem to be pretty well contented.
If you haven't crossed them off your list already, maybe check out US Xpress?
And also, I think Celadon has a team requirement for a period of time (six months or something like that), but I've heard that two new drivers can team and fill that requirement. Just what I heard - don't know for sure. -
We drove for USX for 2 years and it was a very good experience. Starting pay was $.48 a mile split. I do not think you can do better as a rookie team. Have heard very good things about Covenant and had friends who drove for Celedon. They made a little but less there but the company took very good care of them.
I have heard that Schneider does not allow inverters. This would be a big issue for us as we saved a ton of money by doing all of our cooking on the truck. I could be wrong on this.briarhopper and blairandgretchen Thank this. -

We used to work for Schneider and they are a good company. The reason we are not there is I will not do NY or the 5 boroughs nor cross the GW bridge and it was on my application. Been there done that and not again. They thought we would do a 5 stopper in NY. I did not argue. Turned in the truck . We did very well financially and were often booked over a week in advance. We often cleared $1000 a week each . Nice for the bank account. Then they planned trips at 53 mph. Trucks ran 67 mph. Now an O/O and love working when I want to. Been off nearly a month now and going to be off another 3 weeks. Some of the terminals rival truck stops inside.

Chinatown mentioned Old Dominion. I believe you have to have some experience before driving for OD
Gordon mentioned NYC, at USX, you do not have to drive NYC or Long Island but they will pay you extra if you do.
Everything I have heard about Schneider is positive. They are just a bit more particular about some things. -
sorry for the lack of a quote
