Despatch Manager Tommy W working for covenant Transport. I had very bad experience with him. He thinks that he can do whatever he wants to drivers. He even verbally threatens drivers.
I had time off and I was coming from Nashville TN to Chattanooga heading for time off in Atlanta GA. I asked him for Bus ticket from Chattanooga instead of my partner dropping me off in Atlanta to save company's money. He said it will be there when I arrive in Chattanooga office. I asked for confirmation number when I was in Nashville. I wanted take the earliest bus possible for that day. I requested for Bus confirmation when I was nearing Chattanooga TN. He said it is ready and once I get in Chattanooga its there.
Finally I reached Chattanooga hoping that bus confirmation is ready. I send message saying I am in Chattanooga. I waited for about an hour without any reply from my Boss Mr Tommy Whitecotton. I send another message "Where should I beg to get my bus confirmation?" (I wrote exactly)
He send me message asking me to come inside. When I got inside he called to hall way and threatened me to fire me if I write such message again. He said that it cost money for each message send.
He treated me like dog not driver and disrespect me just coz of the color of my skin. I asked for apology for no wrong that I have done just coz I didn't wanted to be unemployed again.
I am sure he has threatened many other drivers like me. Covenant Transport Managers are not driver oriented but they like to give trouble to the drivers.

If you think you had to beg for a ticket home wait until you try to go back . I think you're going to have a long holiday .
I'm not buying that color of your skin crap . All drivers are equally disrespected regardless of race , religion , or sexual orientation . -

Leave race out of it has no place here, or at work. Maybe its your attitude that is causing the problem. I'm surprised they would be giving you a bus ticket home unless they were not planning on bring you back.
Most companies would tell a team driver you had to wait tell you were routed near the house (no matter what color you are). If I were him and you thru the race crap into the equation I you terminate you on the spot. -
Most companies are crappy about getting drivers home, 1 day off every 7 is a clue that they do not care about drivers in general.
I have a couple of friends that are trainers at Covenant and they both like it. 1 guy lives in Bakersfield and the other lives in Denver, both cities are heavy trade routes of Covenant so neither has problems getting by the house.
This is stuff you have to consider while selecting companies. Ask most will tell you the areas the run heavy in to.
Good Luck with the Florida thing.
