Hey there. Ya'll might consider covering your rear, and front side for that matter when out over the road.

I ran across a driver's post somewhere out there in the big dub dub dub world that ran his video capture through his dash mounted cell/pda phone. He recorded his whole driving day. Said it was possible to do on the low quality setting and with a good size 1 gig card. So in any traffic situation in front of him he was covered. He'd erase the day if there was no incident and repeat the next day.

He also mentioned that he knew of drivers that mounted two additional camera's via Bluetooth that peeked back on driver side and passenger side. Whole set up he said was less than $500 bucks.

You could mount them up in the upper bunk windows, get the right angle and never look at them again supposing you run them off an 12 volt extended cord with a splitter.

But for $500 of equipment and very little effort, you get a video record that will head off any potential career ending court case.

    Good comment there.

I know a lot of drivers that do this on a regular basis. I've considered it myself, with the way the sharks/lawyers are now days.

One of the best configurations I ever seen, was on a company truck (can't remember the name). It had 3 in the cab, 2 on the mirrors (one each side) and one mounted in the grill.

The mirror mounted cams also included microphones.

It was being run as a test truck. The driver said it had saved his *** when a 4 wheeler called in on him for aggressive driving. He simply showed the video to the officer, showing the car cutting in front of him and slamming the brakes.

Sooner or later, it will come to the point where we have to prove EVERYTHING we do without a doubt. So it seems to be a good investment to consider.
