@bzinger
Also they can’t lose too much weight from the time they leave the sale barn til they get to their destination. We used to load out of central Mississippi and south Alabama, then take them 800-1000 miles to West Texas, Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska. Only stop to fuel and get food, then hammer down.

"Cause of crash is unknown"
I gather they dont understand that cows will tip a trailer because of the smell of fresh water or fresh hay. -

Elogs don't work well with livestock which are a load and go proposition and long distances in some cases between off loading ..
Examples are Florida , Tenn ,Virginia and Kentucky which are large producers of feeder cattle that go to feed lots in Nebraska and Kansas .
When the driver runs out of hours in st Louis where do ya put a load of feeders ? ...can't leave em on the trailer !
Farmer johns in LA another example which is a pork kill .
They don't raise hogs in LA and they come out of the Midwest ...park a load of hogs in heat and they die quick .
It goes a lot deeper than that but I think the day is coming when livestock haulers will be teams ...buttttt where to find these teams ? That know how to handle livestock and it's not going to come cheap .
Bottem line is you don't park a load of animals on a trailer very long before they start dropping dead ...air flow is a must .Click to expand...allniter Thanks this. -
windsmith said: ↑Time to set up a system like FedEx and UPS have. Drivers take their trailers 4-5 hours out, then swap loads and bring them back to the point of origin. Create a network like that and the trailers will keep moving.Click to expand...Dan.S, Rounded_nut, Feedman and 3 others Thank this.
