Yes, they have their DOT doctors check your neck size, BMI, and Blood Pressure. Fail 2 outta 3 and gotta do that sleep apnea test bs.

That sleep apnea test is NOT BS... I have sleep apnea and have been dealing with it as an OTR driver since 2002.

I would be dead if I had not gotten treated and there are a lot of drivers who post in these forums that are on CPAP and will say the same thing.

Shaq has sleep apnea.. check out his you tube video. Reggie White the NFL player died of untreated sleep apnea. There is a whole NFL group going around telling their stories about needing to get treated for sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is not BS.

You pay out of your own pocket for the test, company doesn't pay.

 

Thanks for the heads up. Do you know if they will accept paperwork from a doctor that says I am ok and do not have sleep apnea? If i already took a sleep study I don't want to pay again.

 

Maybe. As far as DOT physical, has to be the company appointed doctors. For the sleep test, dunno if they accept the paper work. Quick phone call to them would answer that question.

 

I agree with your statements; however.

The way it's gone about and tested for currently in this industry is BS.
