Easier to verify cpm pay. Employers may be honest (then again they might not) in regard to what the load paid but unless you actually get to see the freight bill you will have to accept their word for it.

Find out what program your prospective employer uses in calculating your cpm pay and then purchase a copy of the software for yourself. Download the software into your laptop and you should be able to verify the routes and miles each load pays. Be sure to "match" the settings so you get the correct info.

By the way percentage pay programs usually does not pay for empty or dead head mileage even though you must log those miles you will not be paid for them.

 

$500 a week gross is only $26,000 a year. I made that much per year in '91 driving for .23 cpm. $500 a week gross is a ripoff. I'd have to agree with jlkklj777... cpm is easier to verify unless you know for sure what the loads are paying.

Something else I just noticed in your post... he said that the percentage would go from 24% to 28%--an increase of 4%... but your pay would increase by 50% to 100%? He's lying through his teeth.
