At least he's out there giving it a shot. I bet he goes winter boot shopping after that experience.

His dispatcher told him last week, "One more boneheaded incident and you're fired"

I've got no idea why anyone would drive a truck across the country in winter without a winter jumpsuit, good boots, gloves and hat, add to that a stocked toolbox and emergency food. I'm not saying he doesn't have it but judging by the stuff I see rolling down the road and on the side of the road, a lot of these guys don't even carry a screwdriver.

At least he has a shovel!

To be fair, he’s probably on a drop and hook to the house, and his girlfriend texted him some eager beaver pics. Time is of the essence. That dude looks motivated...

Sounds like the reply of a arm-chair driver. I've been there but would have chosen a different way to get out.

    Trucker61016 and alds Thank this.

I tend to carry a #8 20' chain under my bunk and have lended drivers a bit of a hand to get out. and even a couple of state patrol. We used to help each other, unlike the newer drivers.

My winter clothes are limited, lined Carhartt pants w/ longies a good Carhartt Jacket and insulated gloves, my Rubber Boots are warm enough. I've always carried a shovel and a large bag of Cat liter from Tractor Supply.
Sometimes you can rock your way out of it, at least it works for me.
