You're thinking of GENE ENGLAND...Chester was Genes father and has been dead for many years. Seeing what his idot sons and grandsons have done to his company would make him sick!
I average a strong $800 per week (take home) and $1100 on weeks I go to Sparks (and another $1100 of the week for the return trip)
It is a violation of Federal Laws for a company (who LEASES you a truck) to require you to keep your equipment with them. As long as you are making your payments, you can put your (lease) truck on with ANY company that will take you.
I chatted on the cb 2nite with a CRE guy and he was saying that some of these guys are barely clearing $75 a week after the lease charges..That's crazy. He's solo now but said he'll quit soon once some student goes thru school and gets put on his truck to team with him...I'm not sure what to think about that company at all. I guess they just want to put a few more people in the poor house...
It is hard to live in a truck at only $75 a week. Thankfully you can use those Pilot fuel points to get a free meal for at least one of those days. Maybe CRE trucks should have a donation box bolted to the front. I know the truck stop bums are making ~$75 a day, -why shouldn't truckers try it also. =We are CRE fleecers, and our company rips us off. Help us out. I don't want to live in this truck forever.
A couple I know, the ones who got me into CRE, bummed Top Ramen from their recruiter when the female went through "Train The Trainer" while her guy was in school. She hadn't made enough by running solo to have a few bucks on hand for the week of down time. Good thing they exempt the lease payment while you're going through the course that week! They just left, after getting KILLED when they turned in their Century - $1800 in mystery body and paint work...then they leased a new Volvo, and I'm sure everything they have in maintenance reserve will be eaten up...on a 60,000 mile, relatively new truck (was brand new).
Are they allowed to charge you for normal wear and tear? Paint's gonna chip after two or three years of having rocks kicked up at it. Windshields are gonna crack after getting hit by dozens of pebbles at 60mph+...
Why do people lease trucks? Would you rent a truck from uhaul every week to go OTR with? No one I know in the wrong sense would do such a thing. Leasing is like Renting, in the end the truck doesn't belong to you. Purchase a truck or drive a company truck, I am not sure why drivers go through hell for any company and their leasing deals.
