CR England..Don't Go With Them

    This is exactly what happened to my husband when he worked for CRE. They would not let him go company got persuaded to lease and we were in the red for nine monthes before he quit. His DM was also named Brian, wonder if it was the same guy, because he was not helpful, always waiting for a load, and never let him come home. Sorry this happened to you too.

    Just outta curiosity, why wouldn't they let your husband go company?

    The reason why I'm asking is because at one point, they put a cap on how many company drivers they would keep on the payroll. At another point, they were only hiring company teams.

    Since you used the word "persuaded", something tells me you both had your doubts about leasing, but went for it anyway. When you felt like he was being forced into leasing, he shoulda walked.

    I've seen that at a couple companies. In orientation, they'll tell the drivers you can switch from lease to company and vise versa. Then when it comes down to it, they won't let anyone switch to company.

    Like you said, they control the number of company drivers and I guess they look at it if you fail as a lease driver, you won't make a good company driver. It's a false perspective, but I see a pattern with companies doing the same thing.

    This might be a good topic for a seperate thread because it's not just CRE.

    I had one coworker friend that was lease and wanted to go company and they wouldn't let him. He was lead to the door pretty much. After a couple more failed lease tries, he's now a company driver and much happier.

    But if one has thoughts of being a company driver, do it from the start because that's your only chance. You can always go company to lease, but not lease to company.

    It's not that hard to distinguish between the two. There really are many good honest people driving. There are many good posters on here also. The BSers usually get called on.

    Nah I don't call em out so fast. I like getting a group of drivers around the one big BSer at the TA and let him go on for 25 minutes. Then at the end look him dead in the eye and tell him 'you do realize we all know for completely full of #### right?' and just walk away. Gotta love those types. Their lives suck so bad they got to make one up :D

    BTW Good morning boys and girls, I'm not going to bed. It's 330 here in LA and I have nothing better to do than stay up all night and yack on a forum and search for gainful employment. I haven't been unemployed this long since the Army ###### me up and no one wanted to hire a broke soldier - that was 4 years ago.

    Back on topic, glad I stopped by this thread, CRE won't be anywhere on my list of potentials. Of course I knew that way before now when I was still drivin'

    I had a couple of former students go company with CRE. The best way is to go company team. I had two students do this and in a couple of months the other team driver quit and they took over the truck as company solo.

    Eventually they got into dedicated fleets. One is intermodal and is home every night and the other got into England's green line fleet and is home every Thursday and Friday. Both of them gross about $1100 a week company solo.

    Yea I realize that. It all just seems a little shady to me is all I was saying. But to each his/her own. The only way to learn in life or especially in trucking is to get out there and do it and hopefully learn from the mistakes we make. :biggrin_25520:

    I never had any of these problems when I was with CRE either. In fact my trainer was great. The dude carried around a tiny BBQ grill and when we would get to warmer climates he'd often grab some steaks and beer and we'd find an old shut down shopping mall parking lot and party down lol. Also several time he'd buy us both rooms when we'd be laid over.

    I am no longer with CRE because a regional job worked out for me, but I had no regrets from when I drove for them. About 95% of everything I read on this site about them turned out to be false at least for the time I was there.

    In fact this is how I found this site, researching them.

    The problem is the new recruits themselves. Just take a good long look around at the SLC facility. These guys act like they have it all figured out already and are waiting for their paychecks.

    These newbies don't take their driving job seriously, think its just another 9 to 5 job. It is best to remain humble and ask a lot of questions.
