There are alot of places looking for team drivers and paying them .40 + a mile. I would rather do that the have to worry about making it work leasing a truck. Thats just my opinion. I'm glad your happy and its nice to see that some people are happy working for CRE.

 

Even though thats the figure I threw out there, Im not so sure thats exactly what it boils down to, roughly. That 40 cents a mile estimation is untouched as far as having anything taken out of it. Without considering the deductions, 90 cents a mile is what goes to the truck and 45 cents is what goes to each of us. All in all, if we stay above 5000 miles a week, we earn 1200 bucks split to the both of us. Maybe im settin my sights a little low but for having little experience, renting a truck and basically paying england to find us loads and such and only paying a buck 25 for fuel, in my mind, thats not bad. Especially in this day and age with the economy suckin the way it is.

 

What destroys most new drivers in these programs is more than just $100 or so checks - but the tax problems created down the road.

When I leased, I was amazed at the number of drivers shocked to learn that they have to file - and pay taxes quarterly.

Most of these guys and gals were just looking for a "job" and had no idea what it takes to run a business.

Many will come to the end of the year and find they now owe thousands of dollars in tax and penalties - simply because "business management" was simply not even mentioned in orientation, or emphasized.

Whether or not you only earn a couple thousand a month wont make a difference - because every three months a tax payment will be due - period.

You can ... and often will find that the estimated payment will be more then your entire take home pay for the quarter.

The "crime" is these companies leading you to believe that this is really just a "job only better" which is a joke.

 

CR England was the first company to ever try to screw me around, They have given me a good laugh after all the hell I went through with them..maybe yall will find this as funny.(wasn't so funny when it happened)
I went to them for a job, I was a rookie and looking forward to hitting the road, I by the grace of God when I went to this company my husband had vacation time and he took it off and drove me from Alabama to UT. Well I didn't go with the lease program and like many who chose not to we were set to the curb can't use ya sorry..even tho I started from the word go I did not want to go that way. Well I had a van my husband and our pitbull and here were 3 people I got to know some what sitting with no way home. it was a black couple husband and wife and a Spanish kid about 23 years old. Well after looking at the map I talked to my husband and we decided to try to help them, they had some money and I told em to pitch in on gas and we would help em get home. Now the van we had was not the greatest and I knew it was messin up so I told my husband to go the longer way due to less hill climbing sure it was gonna take a little extra gas but I knew the van was not going to make it through all the mess..I fell off to sleep and was sleeping good when I woke I didn't look to hard at what highway we were on we were pulling into a gas station I had to go pee! LOL well we come out and I see they didnt take the route we discussed the "men" decided it will be fine to go the shorter route and sure as hell we were on some small two lane highway in AR. and boom the van messes up! its hot and I am hotter cuz not a think around no phone no cars no help! I got out of the car with the dog I was fuming and took the dog out for a walk when I came back I had calmed down some and I hear the wife say maybe we can get a car to stop and help us...I couldn't help myself I busted out laughing so hard I about wet myself they looked at me like I was nuts! I told them have you really thought about this..My husband had tattoos all over his body, we have 2 black people who are very nice but at this point looking really rough and a mexican plus me and a pitbull! We were a car jacking waiting to happen I told them laughing nobody will stop they will speed up!
Well after working on the van we managed to get it to go a few miles then have to shut it down again to cool we did this all the way to Flag Staff where we were gonna get parts and fix it, Well I am still mad at the fact I spent 16 hours going like 22 miles all because they were men and thought they knew more than me and I went to the walmart and was on the phone to my mom thinking about just flying home when a lady I didn't notice walked up to me, Her husband was a mechanic and he had a full shop she said she over heard my conversation and they would like to help work on the van seeing we were in this mess because we were trying to help others. She worked at this walmart and she said asked for our room number and said at 7 am they will tow our van to the shop. well we had all the parts bought already so when I went back to the motel and told them this they were all happy. we got the van towed and they worked on this thing all day and into the night the people that helped us were so super she and I made a nice dinner and we all ate together I felt like I knew this lady all my life her name was Linda. Well about midnight they get the van done and we are all beat they said they had plenty of room why don't we stay and then head out in the morning fresh, I was for it but oh no the guys were like we can make fine, now mind you only my husband and I can drive cuz of insurance i told him I was too beat to drive with out sleep the stress from the last two days just built up and he was willing to stay he got along with the people as well as I did but the other two pushed us to go like fools we went! we made it like 2 hours down the road and into a rest area we went and slept these fools who wanted to go had no room to sit between all there stuff and the dog but they sat up sleeping like babies! well we made it to their homes and got home our selves and I learned a good lessen NOT to trust trucking companies and went with a local produce company here and have been happy with my decision I made. I have learned you have to look back and just find something funny about a bad situation in the end of it all.

 

....and they say the public schools in the south are the worst ... wow!!!!

 

Worked for them a couple years ago. Did 6 months as a company driver.

I made 6,000 (W2 FORM) is 6 months, After taxes and after you pay for schooling and just VERY SIMPLE living expenses......how much you think I took home each week?

Not to mention when I quit and the second I stepped off the bus to get home, they took the rest of my money off my comdata card.

Didnt realize mormons can be just as vicious as the government and the mafia!

 

i got a call back , and once they cr....told me it would cost me cash to take there class, i said b/s i just got trained thats why i have a cdl-a. . .anyway any advice on how to get a gig with no otr. . .its hard out there. . .

 

WOW, you could make a movie out of that. Evil trucking company lures unsuspecting couple across the country then kicks them to the curb and the adventure in getting home that ensues afterwards.

 

So after meticulous research the original poster left his wonderful and high-paying job voluntarily, believed the evil lies of the big trucking company recruiter, was used and abused and pushed beyond the limits of endurance, and now he warns us all not to do as he did.

After turning on my BS detector here is how it reads:

Original poster is fired by flat-bed company for a legitimate issue. After being unemployed for 2 months in desperation he rides a bus nearly 2 days to get to an unpaid refresher course. Almost immediately on arrival he begins engaging in the exact same behavior that got him fired 2 months earlier. Though his families future is on the line he agrees to a lease agreement that is infamous in the industry for being a bad idea. Even though his bad judgment and rotten attitude have nearly unemployed him again he somehow manages to stay in the truck until in a spectacular display of poor judgment he throws a temper tantrum and tells his employer how to run there business, gets parked and decides to punish England for his own stupidity.

What a cry-baby.
