she still has to report him gone....the company still paid much of his way....i was only thinking abandonment, i didn't know it was an o/o that was doing the training for Prime. now i have to wonder if Prime has to still pay the o/o for her end of the deal...????

i think there will still be a bad DAC in his not to distant future......

time will only tell, but will he come here and tell us...????

    i think not....

Nope. Trainees are brought onto the truck as an employee - you pay wages, SS and Medicare tax.

ok, the o/o pays for his wages...????

in any event, the report still goes to DAC. (left with out notice) perhaps, as we cannot forget, he had to be "approved" by Prime first.

in any event, he's screwed.......in more ways that i and others here have mentioned.

Well, im not one to try to sugarcoat it. I screwed up. royally.... Im staying with a friend here in Phoenix for a few days and then im going to try to find a ride back home to kansas. the guy i was supposed to work for "said" his mom and dad got in an accident back in ohio and his dad got killed so he is on his way back to ohio and isnt sure when he will get the truck rolling again. If he is being truthfull then i feel really bad for him, but either way i just cant wait a few weeks to work. Im probably going to end up going back to my dead end job back home till the spring and then I'll just go back on harvest, driving a truck for $1500 a month plus room and meals. Even though the harvest crew works from 5am to midnight or 1 in the morning at least I'll be driving. Thats all i really wanted to do. Drive

Thanks everyone for all the advice and I'll still stick around the board but i guess this is it for now for my driving career.

Huh! Didn't see that coming! Lesson learned. Never apply for a job in a truck stop parking lot! I truly feel bad for you however I would heed the advice that these experienced drivers put out there on this forum. At least you were honest and I give you props for posting you utmost embarrassing story! Sorry man!

    well.........

what is anyone going to say or do, beat you down lower than you already are right now....???

i'll try not to be the one that does it. but frankly, you had it coming to you. you had a good thing set up at prime and well...........

you can never go back to prime now, you're finished there, but you can still apply someplace else. but the whole process must be done all over again as you know. I would order up a DAC report sometime next month, or January for sure to find out how bad (if at all) you got DAC'd by prime. and if you were badly DAC'd by prime...............you may very well NOT ever find a job unless its with a very small company.

i wish you well, but there isn't much else anyone can do for you, you made a decision you have to live with.

    best of luck

I wish I could say something other than this:

I've known of several drivers who left to go to "work for this owner-operator who is getting another truck".

The percentage of the time this scheme has worked for the driver is a nice round figure, namely zero.

    Good luck to you....
