Sad , it is'nt . It's a lease. I believe that if you lease a truck thru horizon for a period of one year, and complete that lease, you can qualify for a new truck purchase/loan agreement(not a lease).

The premise for my thread was why the CRE lease was horrid. I think our other contributor has missed this point.
i've been approved to buy a truck thru a private aftermarket dealer, and i'm strongly considering leasing on to england, because they do have great freight and strong(relatively) back office(better than mine):biggrin_25525:

Yes and no actualy. At the end of the lease you DO have an option to buy that truck out. But like I said above. it is between 35k and 45k for it (hardly worth it since the truck will have roughly 500k on it by this point)

What do you think happens with the old trucks when they have run their course? So in a matter of speaking yes, there's a lease purchase option BUT it would have a balance and that money paid to the lease wouldn't go tword it. So not really lease purchase but yes in a way. You get first crack at the truck. But who the hell would want it at 500k? that's when #### starts breaking lol.:yes2557:

When you really stop and think about it you could goto Ryder lease a truck then go into England as an owner op. Like they guy above said on the back end england has solid freight lines and excellent brokers (95% are independant of the co - I like dealing with them alot more that the morons in the office most times) At one point I had heard england offered a brokerage class also. In fact when I buy my truck in a couple months I may stick with england as an O/O and look into the class (planning on 2 trucks in the next 5 years). We shall see thou.:biggrin_25520:

Oh, Update.... England announced today they will be switching to paperless logs! Finally, less crap in the truck YIPPEEEEEEEE :biggrin_255:

LOL Paperless logs. When I was there last december there was a company wide qualcomm message that read "looking for a few volunteers to go paperless". The joke was there was a plea in 18 hours stating that 85% of the company had responded and their computers had crashed from the volume of traffic in requests. :biggrin_255: They (in R&D) had sent out a new plea stating they found a couple of guinea pigs and did not need anymore volunteers and also would like people to stop trying to contact them.

    Bwahahahahahahah!

Ok guys, I have been trying to get on with a company and C.R. England is the only one to call me back. Before you ask, yes I am green. I am clean as a whistle, 21YOA, and can't find anyone else to hire me:biggrin_25511: Should I go to work for them? I can't do team driving as I am a loner. I noticed they do not offer solo company drivers. Whats up with that?? The only reason I see is because they can get more lease people. I did have an oppritunity to go with Weiner, but I was lied to by the recruiter, got pissed, and quit orientation. I tried to see if I could go back but they passed on my app. (I know....it was a dumb thing on my part). I also have another option. I can stay around here and work for Lowe's and drive a school bus. These jobs are guaranteed and I am currently waiting to start. Theres just something about the truck that keeps calling me...I think they call it a jakebrake and a turbocharger LOL:biggrin_25519:. My dad was also just diagnosed with cancer so this is adding to my dillema as well. Luckilly it isnt going to kill him, just alter his life a little. What does a guy like me do in this situation? Alot of horror stories about Trucking Co.'s especially ones that train. I just got accepted by Stevens and CR England for training and now I am debating. Are/is this my only option to ever getting in a truck. I could pay for my own tuition and a cdl but then Co.'s want exp. Got any ideas?:biggrin_25512:

Most schools will offer some form of placement for their students. A good idea is to find out if the places that are hiring are taking school students or other. Other as in 1 yr exp required.

As to where or how to get it depends on you. Any truck driving is truck driving to these companies. Grin, no pickups dont count. Yet if your driving fuel or a dump truck or cement truck, its all experience. You may not get the OTR miles, yet they are miles. One fellow that was in my class had only 5000 miles driven, yet because he had done it for over 13 years CR called him a driver. That said fellow worked for a garage repairing trucks and he was only driving some 2-4 miles a day delivering a repaired class 8 truck.

If it is on paper that you worked for a company as a driver is what they are looking for.

The nice thing with CR, even tho I did not get what I needed for exp. CR still put it down that if you work for them briefly, you worked for them at least 3 months. I am very grateful for this. Granted during this time I still tried to pass any and all saftey videos that they had available (online you may access safety videos and track your accounts, also where a truck is by #).

1.) Is it possible to get enough miles to make $800+ gross a week and how long would it take after finishing driving school?
2.) Can a guy make that and still see his family every couple of weeks?
3.) Does anyone have feedback on driving schools such as quality and price?
A friend of mine new to trucking was treated very well by CRE but then got himself fired for cussing on the com system constantly but I read a lot of bad postings about them online, is there a good way to sort through the postings to get a clearer picture of who the good companies are?

I can only afford to make a mistake once so this forum is a God send for someone like me.. Thanks, Bubba

    Doubtful as a green driver

CR as green, no. 90 days minimum before you can choose your route, if you want dedicated. Otherwise maybe depending on your dispatcher.

6 grand on average. Time of schooling depends on school itself.

Hopefully the friend is not you. You decide what you want. We will gladly read about your adventures in what ever you make of it.

Welcome to the world of trucking
