What kind of results have any of you had after structural frame repair on an aluminum trailer? I have a 2000 ravens that recently developed a small crack on the drivers side and a larger crack on the passengers side. I'm looking for a outfit to fix it, I know I could send it back to the manufacturer, wondering on price and "after fix results" that anyone may have had. I would rather replace the equipment, but I can't replace it for what a fix will cost I'm sure. Insight?

Have you asked the manufacturer if they will give warranty on their repair?
If they do ,it might be worth it to pay a little extra.
Have you send those pictures to Ravens and asked what they would charge? -
Thats just a thin alum. if frame web is not cracked it will fix.

I discovered this yesterday-haven't made any contact with manufacturer, looking for some local quotes so I can get a comparison at the moment, calls to Mac and Kruz (they make Ravens now) on Monday. I'd expect that without a manufacturers repair any dealer wouldn't want to get involved with taking it on trade in the future without giving me scrap value.. It's been a good piece of equipment thus far, I feel it's worth a few grand to repair. If it's over $5k I'd strip n scrap get a new one.

don.t screw around, fix it right go back to ravens, then sell it

I made 2,500$ for a 44ft. sold for scrap, if you pull floor up an sell it after crossing scales then returning to scales to get another ticket for frame, floor is made of hi grade alum. 2 axels an landing gear can be sold later.

If the rest of the trailer is in good shop id fix it and run it. Its over the 5th wheel kind of a strange place to crack. I'd weld it than plate it to where the frame starts to get taller. About 4 ft or so to spread the load. I wouldn't fix it and dump it because everyone will lowball you figuring it was worse than you said and if there's an issue down the road you'll look like the a-hole regardless. Should be under 5 g I think.

So no actual experience with an aluminum trailer. But first If you are going to give it away for $3000 I WANT IT. The reason it cracked there is thats where the "twist" ends on top of the fifth wheel. It looks like you can unbolt the fifth wheel and put plates on both the inside and outside. First V grove the cracks and fill them, then grind flat and plate. If it was me I would definitely repair it. Good luck.

Yeah I've come to the conclusion that repair and run it Til it's junk will be the best option if it's under $4k ( an arbitrary number that I don't want to spend more any more than) I just put all new brakes on the rear, scams bushings slacks drums shoes cans and hoses. Bunch of new rubber, front axle had all the same brake work done maybe 8 months ago. Won't get that back at a scrap yard. Next trailer I'm buying a new one.
ill update with repair estimates as I get them.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Every used Ravens I've looked at on dealer lots was cracked somewhere on the frame. I strongly recommend a Reitnouer when you buy a replacement. Good luck.
