One of the most unbelievable things that happened to me.

I was contracted to make a deliveries of mining equipment to a distributor about 1000 miles from our depot.
The owner seemed so impressed with the service that he paid 30% more then we quoted and filled my tanks with diesel.
He then asked if we would be willing to do a weekly service on the same basis.
They then threw in a hotel for driver midway.
    Did this for 3 years.
People think I'm crazy when I tell them.

Once going through a low income neighborhood in Boston,I had a tire iron fly between the tractor and trailer. Another time while waiting in line at a red light, the parked cars to my right started moving.A 10 wheel dump lost it's brakes and crashed into about 6 parked cars, never touching me.

bout 10 years ago while making a tite left turn (couldnt go strait or rite ) in a queens ny industrial area the rite rear side of my 53 ft trailer swung out and caught the rear of a brand new ford taurus that was illegely parked pushing it up against a high curb and ripping the drivers side open like a can opener ...it was destroyed .
i looked around for the owner to no avail when i nypd detective in an unmarked car pulled up wanting to know what happened ,after i explained things he said that car isnt supposed to be here and if youre not worried about the minor damage to your trailer im just gona have that car towed and you can get the ###### outa here .
i couldnt get to the van wyk and across the gwb fast enough !....called my co. and we never heard another word .

Heard a similar story while in SNI's training... Hrm...

Alright so, on topic... My very first solo load out. I take a wrong turn down a road that had no turn around space in any businesses and ended with a road marked as no trucks. Understandable as the road after the sign barely had enough room for two 4 wheelers to pass each other, was overhung by trees and had more curves than an Amsterdam brothel.. With my 53 foot trailer and sleeper, I had to snake though the next 10 miles of unkept, half gravel half concrete road. Couple times I almost got stuck in a few of the wet leaf strewn valleys...

In the end, between everything I learned from cdl school, sni's training and a few tall tales by relatives... Well, I made it out safe, the load got delivered and the few 4 wheelers that I did come across at 3am were kind enough to give me space so I could let them by.

What did I learn? ...um. Ask again later? (Kidding.)

OPUS 7 and Danvitt Thank this.

Last winter. US 81 middle of the night coming out of KS into NE. Near whiteojt conditions. No where to pull off so.just had to keep going. Rolling 35 mph. Was going okay then all the sudden bear thud, thud, thud. I was hitting the rumble strips. No biggie but it was on my drivers side steer that was hitting them. Crapped my pants, almost, pulled back into my lane and still delivered on time.

The sign said clearance to the twelve-foot line, but the chickens was stacked to thirteen-nine.

You get used to that. If you find yourself between Watertown, NY and Pulaski on I-81 in the winter you often steer by rumble strip. Just make sure to stay off the two lane.
