Oh man. Hold on to your butt.
No, they don't do background checks before orientation. I started there (went to their school in Mira Loma) and they tossed 8 or 9 people in the first four hours because of their backgrounds. Do you have felonies? Misdemeanors?
On to the important stuff: If you're going to their school, no, you don't get paid until you graduate the school and get into a trainer's truck. If you already have your license and go straight to training and driving, you'll get $350 a week (maybe less, I don't remember exactly, and the info is three years old).
Yes you pay for your food.
No you don't sleep in hotels.
You'll be running as a team during training, meaning you'll be sleeping (or trying to sleep) in a moving truck, and then driving, then sleeping, then driving.
You've got to do what you've got to do, but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you're in for a rude shock if you're not even aware that there's a sleeper on the truck because you sleep in the truck.
If and when you make it through school/training. Do yourself a favor and don't lease. I don't care how smart you think you are or how smart they make you feel like you'd be if you leased...you haven't yet worked out how to eat and sleep on the road, don't even pretend you can work out how to make a truck profitable on the fly.
No disrespect intended, you just seem in over your head.
I truly do wish you success. -
im new to all this trucking stuff. and i asked the lady 3 times about my background. she said let me run your info and ill call you back in 30 mins and she did. and misdemeanor. do they provide tickets to be sent bk home? how much money will i need to make it while not getting paid.? really want to drive trucks with them to get exp and get out and drive for someone else. i need money to pay some things off and guess im just desperate but you gotta do what you gotta do. and thanks. by the way, in my situation would you give it a try?

I assume you're going to their driving school. Where? Mira Loma? SLC? Burns Harbor?
I don't know how much you eat, but my advice is to be as frugal as possible, get into the shuttle van, go to walmart or the grocery store or whatever, and get as much food of your own as you can. I don't know how much money you'll need, but I do know that the less you spend the less you'll need...and I certainly watched a lot of guys blow money they didn't have while in school.
I don't recall them paying to send people home. If they toss you, you're on your own.
It's not a kind, forgiving place. -
well they told me i was accepted but called me and told me they changed their their minds. cre is a #### place like everybody said they would. thanks though

i know right. and im glad they did.

CRE does background checks before you arrive. I know this because I just got mine ran and they even knew the county. She told me exactly what was on mine. A misdemeanor that was dismissed.

They didn't run mine. Wanted me on the bus the next day. I was like hold on and put the brakes on that.
