I would like to share my experience with CRE. I have had a class A cdl since the early 1990's. I worked in costruction so I needed the license to move equipment from jobsite to jobsite. When the industry went bottoms up I was faced with a choice. Either sit arround on unemployment hoping something came up or change professions.
I saw an ad for CRE. I applied and was accepted. I went thru their two week course and was sent out with a phase 1 trainer. I learned a lot with him about handling the rig in all types of conditions. ( hills, mountains, weather....etc ) Returned to Dallas for upgrade to phase 2. After completing two day course went out with phase two trainer. Learned the buisness end of their lease program. On 10/11/09 I was involved in an accident. We were coming thru Colorado on I 76 east, had just gone thru some bad weather near Colorado springs , snow & icy roads. Stayed arround 35 -40 mph. After a while the snow stopped, road conditions started getting better. Eventually I was able to resume normal speed (60 mph) . Near Sterling, I noticed sporadic snow on the side of the road . As I passed by Sterling I saw snow was getting thicker on the sides like it had just been plowed . I began slowing down . The road was beginning to ice , I had slowed down to app. 45 mph at that point. As I came over a rise there was an over turned box truck taking up the right hand lane. There was no way I would stop in time, I did the only thing I could. I moved as far to the left as possible without going off the road and rolling our truck in the proccess . I cleared him with the tractor but clipped him with the trailer. There was just not enough space to clear it completely . It broke the front tandum axle loose , severed airlines, and put small dent in trailer. After bringing truck to a stop on right shoulder we assessed the damage as best we could and made all calls as per CRE policy. After the police investigation and the trailer was able to be moved we transfered the load to another trailer and finished delivery. two weeks later CRE began taking 1/2 cent amile out of my pay until accident review was done as per CRE policy. I contacted safety manager to set up review as per CRE policy. Asked to come to CRE yard in SLC . Contacted DM and got routed to SLC. Arrived at 12:30 a.m. 11/ 3 , went in to meet with safety manager at 8:30 a.m. My safety review consisted of being told I was terminated due to the damage to the trailer. The police report was not taken into account, because she had not seen the report, averting a major disaster was not taken into account. The only thing taken into account was a broken trailer as per CRE policy. I just don't understand how they expect people to follow their policies if they don't.

Not laughing at you but then. As they will terminate you for any reason that way than can bring in a new student who pays for the schooling and they get money from the government. Too bad CRE cant make money from trucking they have to keep that school and lease program going or they wouldnt make squat. The worst driver mill in the country i dont see y people keep going there. Way more options out there.

Wow. That sucks.
In MS, a woman turned out in front of my truck on a little two-lane road. As I'd already become suspicious of her erratic movements I'd slowed to just over 30. I even changed lanes to pass her when she swung her car all the way over in front of me.
The responding trooper joked that this sort of thing was happening a lot lately, after a bunch of accident-lawyer ads hit the TV and billboards.
Nobody was charged with the accident, but my company settled out of court for a quarter million.
Fortunately, they'd dealt with this before and it wasn't a huge company. They knew I was a good driver and I wasn't punished or anything for it.
What strikes me is that if I hadn't been as careful, Old Miz Sues-a-lot could have had to be removed from her car with a hose. She endangered her own life, as well as mine, for her "lotto win". -
Even with that experience I 'd still like to drive , any suggestions ?

Aladdin, have you tried to get a non driving job? my last non driving job made $50 a week. In some areas, the economy is so bad there just arent jobs. come on, dont be ridiculous.

These folks look for money, NOT to get killed trying to collect it. If they notice you slowing, they'll make their move. They figure the odds are in their favor if you're showing signs of trying to avoid them.
I'm not saying you done a bad thing, you done the right thing. But it's something to keep in mind. -
Yeah. I kinda have to agree, though it's really sad.
