I am considering going back to Crete. I got off the road due to family reasons. I have looked at many companies, and most are lacking. I own my own truck. And Crete pays better than most. Especially when you look at the details.
I talk to a few friends that are still there. And they tell me they see improvement. So, I may go back.
Btw, my last full year, with no truck payment, I made 65k after truck expenses at Crete.

Back at it now. Took a week off to get together with family from Sept 18-24 in Santa Fe, NM. Very nice time.

Been running decent since being back. Didn't turn in that many miles last week as I didn't start until Wednesday. Only hitch so far has been the last few days. Got into "mop up" operations, picking up loads at various Crete yards and finishing them. But yesterday, I got downright snarky with my AM. Was offered a load to CO from Minooka. Couldn't quite make it due to my hours left on my 70. No problem, and they took it off me. What do I get?

A load that picks up at the Romeoville yard and has two stops in Chicagoland. (See my nick-name!). Several bad wrecks had things screwed up in the area yesterday, and I was not happy. AM got back with me explaining that "sometimes we miss appts and have to make good on them". That set me off.

"If this company would actually read the hours a driver has left and would attempt to work with the drivers instead of only within the confines of their computer screens, perhaps we wouldn't have this problem as often as we do!".

Anyway...got that done, and now I'm taking a 34 at the Pilot across from the Iowa 80. Deliver in North Platte Thursday by 2100. I give my AM credit, though. Everything she has said she would try to do at a given time, she has done, including setting me up with a good run following a short run (or several short runs). It's about all I can ask for. I think I'll turn in 2700 this week. Not stellar, but it'll be boosted by a short haul of less then 100 miles, and two extra stops.

I had quite a few shorties in a row last week. Then I got a run from Indy to Plainview TX just below Amarillo, 1100 miles. Then my next run picks up tomorrow in Amarillo and delivers Monday in Brunswick, Maine, 2100 miles. It seems the last few weeks they have really spread me out all over the country. I hope they keep it up.

I've been getting more of that lately too. a few short runs, but more with some miles on them. I was just short of 12000 miles for Sept., and that included swapping trucks and learning the e-logs. pretty happy.

And that is supposed to be good money for an O/O, with no truck payment?

I think I drove about 111, 000 miles. So, I think 65k wasn't too bad. And I go home for most holidays.
There are plenty of companies paying significantly less than Crete. I have been looking for a company to lease to .
So if anybody wants to tell me where the big money is, I am all ears.

I got a nice card in the mail and a message on the Qcom wishing me a happy birthday from the Wilmer terminal. That was nice of them! The big five-O:biggrin_2557:
