Got rid of mine when I left Crete too. No desire to haul HazMat around.

My license is good until 9/2015 and I have the HM on it. I am not going to renew the HM when I renew next year. On the Shaffer side we haul very little HM anyway, and one I know we do is from Front Royal, VA to Carteret, NJ. Last thing I want is to get that load time and time again.

For the life of me..I can't understand why they still run 2 different color trucks...just make them one color and be done...it's all the same company anyway...

There needs to be an extra financial incentive $$ to haul Hazmat, MOST of the time the drivers time gets wasted. I will let mine go next year unless these loads start paying more. There is zero incentive to screwing yourself ......

My last hazmat load was a 474 mile load, Westlake, LA to Pine Bluff, AR. I had to change pants, watch a video, carry a respirator, wait for an escort to get to the dock, wait for him later to lead me out, and then the 350 miles of mainly 4 lane highways, riddled with railroad crossings. The receiver didn't have a dock where they wanted the chemicals, so I drug the chains and pallet clamp so they could unload me, filled out an unload form and have yet to see a penny for that.
I won't renew mine next year.

Lately every time I do laundry at a terminal, some sloth has their clothes in a machine that's finished. Yesterday in Lincoln, I thought I'd do a small batch of clothes, I really like my "Corn Palace" T shirt. Awesome place to visit..... 2 washers were finished, a driver was loading the only washer left, I wait about 5 minutes and pull the wet clothes out and lay them on the other washer.
We have 4 dryers, one was being used, so the guy puts his freshly washed load in a dryer, thus leaving 2 dryers, so I split my small batch up and hog the 2 remaining dryers, I go outside to smoke, shut off the vacume machine. The toggle switch must have confused someone.
20 minutes into my drying cycle the schlub shows up and opens the dryer doors to see if they're being used, I teach him about the little light on them and how to restart the machine.
He's in a hurry now to get his clothes dried. But alas he has no dryer. He puts his wet clothes in a bag and leaves. Once he's gone, I take my super dry clothes out and leave to get my load.
