I'm so glad I left home early, picked up a load going to McDonough GA, 450 paid miles, and then they offer a 287 miler, I told them I'll head to the shop and the daycabs can run this, they reply that they're short on freight and I reply, we'll good, I won't get in any hurry to get to Marietta.
I'll run shags, if I'm home every weekend. -
Anyway everything is going well at the Shaffer side.
Was near Chattanooga today and got dispatched headed to Western Nebraska with a load 11k pounds, open window appt drop and hook on each end. About 1200 miles
They rarely screw around with that short BS over here.
They still can't keep Shaffer drivers though, this Reefer stuff some people just don't want to deal with.
It's no big deal to me, only thing I hate is when I get crazy appointment times for a few weeks in a row.
One day I'm a day driver, then two days later I'm back to being a night driver to make my 2am appointment.
That really sucks. -

48Packard and TruckerJimbo Thank this.

Wake up a 6am.. then because of my next load I have to go to sleep at 6am the next day to make my appointment.
That's the one thing driving me nuts, but at least I am driving and not dealing with 200 mile loads. -
Rather deal with the 200 milers than deal with that.
And that right there is a perfect demonstration of why Anne Ferro's precious 14-hour rule doesn't work in practice.48Packard Thanks this. -

doesn't help me at all
That 14 hour rule is set up for failure as far as "rest" goes.
Once that clock starts even if I'm tired I know if I lay down for a nap that stupid clock keeps on rolling so I keep pushing when I'm tired.. yeah that helps me be a safe driver........ not.
Then if I take a nap i still will have to stop later for a 10 and if I don't sleep for that 10 I'll feel terrible the next day.
What idiot came up with that garbage.
Oh and how many hours I worked 7 days ago = how much i can work today?
What a joke
Greatest FAIL of them all is the 34 hour reset
"must Include at least two nights when their body clock demands sleep the most, 1-5am"
What about the Reefer drivers who are stuck on working the night shift, yeah real considerate of them!
Whoever created the HOS has dreams looking like this....
:smt067:smt072
I honestly believe all these rules and HOS garbage wasn't to help "safety" but rather a conspiracy to attract LESS drivers to the field.
So less drivers and rates go up.. companies with the drivers make more money.
If they really cared about safety I should be able to sleep when I tired and not financially get screwed because of it due to "HOS"
Lone Ranger 13 Thanks this.
