Yea I read that Schneider required you to double clutch, that's why I was curious. I was taught to drive without using the clutch and never even tried double clutching. I always thought the same thing, less wear on the clutch floating gears.

I walked past one of our owner op trucks, an old Century Class. The cardboard by the windshield caught my gaze.
it was blocking a Drivecam from filming in the cab..... Stay tuned for further details

The good thing about having one of the new F/Ls - I just leave it on opti-idle in engine mode at all times when stopped, the Q/C doesn't turn off, so when I turn the screen off and the volume all the way down, it stays that way until I turn it all back up in the morning.

    tucker Thanks this.

I floated in my first road-test...

And because the truck I learned in was set up properly (i.e. no governors except for factory RPM limit (~2200) and speed) and the truck I took my road test was setup improperly, as are all Crete trucks, with the 1500 RPM governor, I kept screwing it up royally. I still passed.

I'm done with these POS throw away truck Freightshakers

Today my truck SHUT OFF randomly right as I was in the middle of the George Washington bridge at 5:30 AM.
I saw a check engine light come on but within a minute it was all over.
That's right, stopped in the middle of the of bridge.
I managed to restart it and it quit on me again with 30 seconds!
nowhere it go, no place to pull off to the side.

I always knew the rattling interior with plastic from the dollar store was garbage but now I've learned Frightshaker bought leftover parts from 1992 Saturns to put into their engines to cut more costs.

Why'd you go over the Gee Dubya anyway? Not many loads we have that make such a crossing essential. I've had exactly two, in the two years I've been here. One was a delivery in the Bronx, and one was a multi-stopper with the first drop in Edison.

All the rest, I've said F-it, and called in for new fuel stops. (The key is to call dispatch for new fuel stops, NOT your terminal.)

Hmm 1500 RPM governor, that would take some getting used to

sometimes mine get that wild hair up her rear end and torments me with 12 to 1300 rpm's, have to use the clutch to get her out of gear, and then shift early and lug her.

I'm a shaffer driver, I gotta go through GW a lot... I could take 287 but that's just a bunch more miles. Sometimes during traffic periods it's worth it though.

Does Crete or Shaffer have any local jobs in the east Tennessee area. I live about an 1.5 hours from their Lenoir City terminal.
