Days like today make me miss OTR. Rain and snow and temps right around 33 degrees. And me out standing in the field. ...haha

I was sleeping soundly last night at the Pilot when BAMMMM....trk was rockin....being a light sleeper, I jumped up grabbed my flashlight and flew out the door. This young blood Prime flat bed driver scraped up the corner of my hood backing up than another driver ran him down as he was trying to flee. I called the police and while waiting this jackwad didn't want to give up any ID or papers.....the police arrived and the witness who ran him down gave a statement and finally I got all information needed. So for the time being I will be driving an eye sore.

I understand the desire to not be caught and have a mark on your record, but I just couldn't hit and run on another driver, that's low. Unless I knew I wouldn't get caught. I'm not dumb.Dinomite Thanks this.

I can see your a great asset to this profession.
xlsdraw and Knucklehead619 Thank this. -
So you would run if given the opportunity??....frankly you're someone who has no business being a driver in this industry..you state "unless I knew I wouldn't get caught"."I'm not stupid"...well simply put just thinking about running is stupid ...Knucklehead619, Wild Murphy, Lone Ranger 13 and 4 others Thank this.

Self protect mode is an instinct you must overcome when you hear the crunch.
Brandson and DrtyDiesel Thank this. -
Exactly. I was teasing mostly in my last comment, but I understand the instinct. Empty parking lot, you and 1 truck and you swipe him (for some reason in the empty lot...), are you going to put a mark on your record to be honest instead of driving off scott free? Assuming you're both company drivers, you're not actually saving him much trouble by telling him, he just needs to say he was hit in a lot. This did happen to me by the way, spent an extra week at home ,no pay of course, waiting to get my darn mirror replaced. I understand why guys try/do run away, but I think it's cowardly. Then again, things change when you're on the other end.Dinomite Thanks this.

Um... yeah Brandson... If I'm dumb or negligent enough to make the mistake of hitting another truck or any other object for that matter I WILL report it and deal with the consequences. That's how this job works: You are supposed to be a professional driver and as a professional you are expected to take responsibility for your actions. It has nothing to do with "saving him much trouble by telling him". It's about being an adult, and doing the right thing. It's even worse that you've had this happen to you in the past and STILL have this attitude. I've gotta say, folks with attitudes like yours are a BIG part of the reason truck drivers as a group get a bad rap.Lone Ranger 13, rexmanno and xlsdraw Thank this.

I'm saying that I would report any damage I inflicted, but who doesn't? Having it actually happen to you is a lot different. It's easy to stand on high morals when there are no consequences at the moment, but what if your honesty will cost you your job? I'm just a young single guy myself, but some guys out here are supporting familys. Would you take away your family's income and your hiring potential to be "honest"? It's a classic ethical dilemma. I'm just telling the truth, don't get upset at me about it. Sorry I gave you a bad rep tho...Dinomite Thanks this.
