Did the Crete truck ever leave?
I'm headed to Texas, but not near there. :(
They never ever let me get down on I 10,

Yep this morning. He was there about three days. His idle percentage will not make his terminal mgr. happy!

Checked into Petro's shop at 11am for a trailer inspection. Almost 5 hours later still here waiting for approval of a tire so it can pass. Happens every time.

Are there any O/O at Crete doing well? Thinking of buying a truck, and leasing on to Crete. Would like to know your thoughts. Thanx.

It never looked worth the trouble to me,
As a company driver I get a paycheck every week and health insurance.
If I was going to be an owner op here, I would want to net 85 grand a year and still be able to put myself in a new truck every 3 years.
and I checked Cretes website today to see what they were paying per mile, looked low to me. No new truck low.
Check out Schnieders ICI plan, even their rates are down now and looks like they have big changes coming(or not).
Most the owner OPs that did post here switched companies, the last one was so happy he couldn't take the complaining .
    OR just stay company

    PhillipFlanders Thanks this.

I was leased to Crete for about 14 years. I liked the security and I could take all the time off I wanted. But, the fact is you could make more elsewhere. With rates depressed currently, Crete would be safe for now. But when rates improve in a year, be ready to move to percentage.
I liked Crete, but the lack of communication and cooperation was a drag.
For now Crete would be ok. Don't expect to do better than a company driver. Unlikely.
At a real owner operator company, you will have much more control .
Crete looks at an owner operator like a company driver.

Thank you, Lone Ranger 13 for the heads up. I'm about 2 yrs away from doing anything. Currently saving cash, clearing debt, and learning what I can do to be prepared. I will look at other companies like Fed X, Dart, A&R, and Schneider. I thought staying at Crete would be a good option. Looking at Freightliner New. Going through Crete buying a truck would save me thousands vs going to dealer, and I already have the contacts here. But time will tell.
