Crete Carrier - A Year In Review - Fall 2013 Going Forward

I know this may sound a little retarded but, after taking a homebound gig hauling oil in West Texas, I sometimes miss being out on the road.

In Nashville, I loved parking at the T/A next to downtown and taking an Uber over to Edley’s barbecue and then walking to Printer’s Alley and getting ####canned at the most amazing blues bar. I loved getting a WalMart load delivering anytime I wanted on a particular day and then staying up until 3AM playing poker at a nearby casino the night before.

I loved the random experiences of the road: the smell of a redwood forest on the coast of Oregon, the loads taking you through gems like Deadwood, SD, the Van Halen concert in Minneapolis you were able to score third row seats off the stage on your 34 hour reset, standing near the “Rocky steps” in Philadelphia in the middle of a million Eagles fans because your drop was cancelled because the city shut down for a parade.

Don’t get me wrong, I like having a home now but I do miss it. There’s no better way to see the country.

 

Not sure if Crete guys saw that people’s net post recently. How awful, the Crete driver died in his truck. Why would they post that?
I don’t think it’s positive. I understand the respect aspect but jeez. Scares me!

I agree..why doesn't Crete just post ...the drivers name and where he's from...no need for where he died, how he died....kind of morbid and disrespectful to the family

 

Once I see the words “we’re sorry”,It’s deleted.

 

Serious question... if I wanted to quit (not mad at Crete but for the family) do I give a notice?
Will they pull the truck from me immediately? Or do I take hometime, clean truck then give notice? Been doing some soul searching, that’s all.

 

I'd clean out truck first...then give notice / just to be safe

 

Thinking about stepping away from trucking getting burnt out a lot of time on the road dropped in Lincoln by the terminal picked up freight going to albany Georgia dropping tomorrow night hopefully get a load to Indiana or close I’m probably doing another week to 10 days tired of bumping docks all the time getting good miles most of the time I have a feeling I’m going to get a couple really short runs to here Georgia that’s going to really frustrate me

 

Going to see about teaming with Crete I’ve talked to drivers here said there team freight isn’t consistent hopefully that’s wrong
I’m going to start looking at line haul or something that has a lot back hauls to Fort Wayne or new haven,Indiana

 

Crete has treated me good for the most part wish they would cut out the shags I’d be very content driving 850 to 1,000 majority of the time
