gotta love living off i-80
head to charlotte tomorrow, first time east coast, first time through its mountains, should be fun. only 22k on my rear so it should pull decent up them hills, and were going through a major city like every hundred miles it seems like, so thats a plus.
for students, this kind of blows, but it doesnt matter how long the school you went to was, youre out 8 weeks with the trainer, the recruiter told us we would more than likely get cut lose at 6-7 because we went to a 10 week school. crete's head of training says fat chance.
talked to a schneider driver in wisconsin who was making what ill start out at, and shed been with the company 3 years (not including the raise were getting.). sick. i fully believe i made the right choice, after counting some of the other trucks for companies who also recruited at school. see a crete truck every 15 minutes on the highway, could be cause theyre so #### slow tho...

So far so good. Has not been to either of those places yet and most all of his loads are drop and hook so it's pretty steady. He goes to ohio, iowa, michigan and georgia for the most part so far. He's in his 4th week now I think. He stayed out two weeks last time and going to stay out three weeks this time. We don't live far from Chatt. We live about an hour away we are in between chatt and knox. They did tell him that he would probably get through the house more because of where we live in the GE run, which that has not happened, the times he has come down this way going to GA he has to go through Nashville and Chatt, so it's too far out of the way to stop at the house. But overall everything else he's real satisfied with. But he likes to run and stay busy too.

Can someone who drives for crete help me with the driver log in on the website? They said it's his birthday and ss# to log in, but we tried it many ways and can't get it to work. Dialed the 800# provided on that page, and they said they didn't know why it wasn't working and wasn't much help. Just curious in what format do you put it in? Do you do dashes or just numbers or what? Also is the ID the birthdate and the Password the SS#? I need to be able to check paystubs and such instead of waiting a week for them to be mailed. Thanks if you can help or give advise!

So it's been about three months since I have been here, but thought I would stop back by and update and visit the forums again. My husband is still working for the GM dedicated for Crete and we have had nothing but wonderful results. Mileage is great, pay is great. He gets home when he asks too. Now he doesn't ask to be home every weekend so I think since he's willing to work, they are willing to work with him. For instance, I had our Son on November 10th. He was due on November 6th. My husband was home for 4 days - (5th through 8th) and had to go back out.. well, when I went in to labor on the 10th, they had him home that night and let him stay home for three more days with no complaints. SO, so far so good with this company! Just had to give my kudo's to em!

to rdkatwell - nice to hear things have been going well. I decided against returning to work right away as I have personal plans in early 2008 and did not wish to have that be an issue with my rehire. I did get a personal letter from the company owner/chairman, Duane Acklie who said he himself looked into my problem and agreed it was an unfortunate way to have been handled both for the company and for me. He said he had discussed my other issues with management and closed by personally saying he would like to see me return to the company - kind of hard to ignore a vote of support like that from the head honcho.
I've heard from local drivers that frieght is slow in general, so its probably a very good thing your husband is in the GMIlls fleet - I will likely return to it if there are opening this spring as it is so easy for me to get a night at home when dropping at the Chatt GMills location.
Hope your family has a wonderful Christmas bruceb. -
I hope Crete has enough Freight to keep everyone rollin, I know the first quarter is usualy slow for everyone, but Im hoping to move over to Crete and make a good wage running 48 States... In 2008... DRIVE SAFE

You may start to see a mass exodus from Crete. I was talking to a Shaffer driver at the Columbus, OH terminal and he did tell me that all dry van drivers will be required to pull reefers starting after the first of the year.
