And Crete and almost an entirely 'Pay-to-Drive' company. I have been with several companies over the years and have never had to pay for so many various things. The mandatory trailer lock for starters, load locks, straps, most of the tolls, parking, the list just goes on.

I wonder how many locks, load locks, and straps would disappear if trucking companies handed them out like candy at Halloween.
If you leave Crete, and turn in your locks, load locks, and straps, you will get your money back.
"most of the tolls" you had to pay for? Do you expect anyone to believe that?
"parking"? Did Crete ever tell you that you had to park somewhere where they charged money to park? I don't think so.
And you say you have worked for "several companies"? You haven't found a good one yet?
I have been driving 14 years for Crete, and they are not perfect, and I am not perfect, and you might realize someday that you aren't either. And your complaints are petty and immature, and incorrect.

    luvtheroad Thanks this.

Crete has it backward IMO. The equipment should be provided free of charge to do the job and if not returned, then the charge for the items should be accrued. But if you agree to the slap in the face as a condition of hire,. then you have no cause for complaint

I have never payed out of pocket for a company trailer lock (unless i lost the lock and had to replace it), load locks, straps and have worked for 4 different OTR companies. 2 of the companies I worked for had accounts at some truck stops that charged for parking.

In KY the cost is over $100 . I know Quality Carriers and Moorman Farms will reimburse 100%

Ask Alvin Wilkerson what he had to do to keep a route that got him home . Drivers get less miles now because Crete HAS to run legal . FMCSA monitors them closely . Some people will drive for management that pushed drivers until somebody got killed . Crete had no concern for public safety . These kids died because of it . Documented statements from dispatch pushing the driver to run illegaly were presented at the trial .

You say Crete had no concern for public safety. :biggrin_25510:You lump all employees here together and make a blanket statement like that. My first hand experience at this company is that I am NOT to run illegally. If I have ever had someone in management try and push me past legal limits, all it takes from a driver is a msg to safety on the Qualcomm and that management person backs down quick. Mr. Wilkerson was just greedy and his actions unfortunately tainted the whole barrel of apples.

As I stated , documented messages from management instructing Wilkerson to drive illegaly are a matter of court record . Crete was fined heavily for other violations found during an audit . Wilkerson's actions weren't as isolated as you try to make them sound .

I keep hearing people say 'all you have to do is contact safety". If you are pushed to run illegal.

Why would a driver even need to contact safety if cajoling the the drivers into doing things known to be illegal was not a common allowed occurance at most OTR company's and part of their culture.

It seems to me the company could simply decree that ANYONE who did anything even remotely that could be considered against safe operation, would be fired. There should be no need for a driver to call safety to get dp off their backs unless management is allowing the practice to continue.

A company does not have to tell you to run illegal. All they have to do is give your miles to someone else if you can't get er done.:biggrin_25525:
