Dubya's to blame because your not the most qualified applicant. One man did not our education system make. Personally, I blame most of the teachers. That's why we homeschool. Public schools here are a joke. Atlanta School System is supposed to be the example for the state. I guess all the teachers in the state now know they can change test answers to meet their needs. Yay, lets cheat. I'm glad you still have a job. I work with the underemployed and unemployed and the market sux!

Just caught up with this thread again and thought I was going to read a good story.... Sorry to hear about the district deep six'ing your teaching job Majesyk.

Hope another position comes along for you. We need more "open" minded teachers who can actually teach and not read from a book. Then again maybe I am giving you too much credit. :biggrin_25522:

Not sure the actual reason, but really don't blame Bush completely which I'm sure you are not. That could have been one thing Obama was "changing".
I am sorry that your spot was yanked from you. Don't give up on it forever. At least you still can truck!

No I don't blame Dubya completely as our education system has been in decline for years. The policies enacted under his administration (no child left behind and other stuff incorporated within that are the culprit of my personal problem).

Well hope to hear something today and get back to the truck on Wednesday.

Majestyk, are you going back with Crete or another company? Have you considered online teaching? Maybe you can hook up with a state college (2 or 4 year) and teach while on the road. Double dipping is always a bonus in this economy.

In regards to this last teaching situation, I wouldn't want to work for a system that the higher ups just chop the legs out from under the school admin that wanted to hire you. I bet the Higher had someone else already selected regardless of your credentials.

The principal was really cool and did all he could do. The reason they gave was they didn't want to hire any more folks that did not fall under the "highly qualified" label (meaning they had an education degree basically). I guess I could go back and get my teacher "education" requirements but it just really rubs me the wrong way that I have spent the majority of my life in school and teaching (very successfully in NYC, my students had a 100% passing rate on the State Chemisty test, and no I didn't fudge the grades:)) and yet still be considered not qualified to teach. I am not going to sweat it though. I will just keep applying for university positions that show up from time to time in my field and keep rolling down the road in the meantime.

Yeah I am going back to Crete. I got a call from my FM and he said they were just going to scrap the resignation letter to save going through some more paperwork and I should be back on the road tomorrow.

Cool. Glad it all worked out, maybe not the way you wanted, but worked. Be Safe.

Majastyk sorry the teaching gig didn't pan out. There have been alot of changes to the education system in the last couple of decades, and none have been for the good. I thing the feds need to get there nose out of it, and let the individual states handle the education of students in its state. The government mandates that this and that be done, but don't fund these "wishes" and then local school districts are left to figure out how to pay for them. Good luck looking for another teaching job.

Right back in the groove of things. Got to the terminal in Greensboro and loaded up my truck (same one that I had). Got a load picking up in Roxboro, NC headed up toward my favorite part of the country, Dover, Delaware:) Got to the shipper and I had barely pulled my brakes to check in when another Crete driver was walking up and asking how long I had been with Crete and telling me how bad of a decision I had made. He has been here 6 years and all he had to do was complain (miles, short trips, east coast, etc, etc). I just nodded my head and went about my business. I guess I should have asked him why he was still here if he was so unhappy, plenty of other companies out there:) Got loaded and made it to the customer late last night and got unloaded early. Rolled out this morning with a p/u in Aberdeen, MD at the Clorox place. Sitting just outside of the customer in Zanesville, OH tonight as I have an appt for 1000 tomorrow. Pulling 79K through Baltimore and up and down the hills of I68 to go along with construction make for a long day.

My computer crapped out on me yesterday with the Black Screen of Death. Perhaps I will be able to fix her but went ahead and bought me one of the mini jobs at K-Mart this afternoon.

There is always a few idiots, probably why he's getting bad miles.

I feel for ya with I-68, that is literally the most annoying stretch in my opinion.

Lemme know if ya need any help with getting the computer going, have some skills with them.
