Got a solid 500+ day in today. Stopped in Muskogee, OK for the evening. Probably going to fire up the old grill for the third night in a row as I need to finish off some fish and sausage. Probably have another 5 hours or so to G. Mills plant which should leave me with enough time to get something leaving the DFW area. Saw a lot of Crete trucks heading east bound on I-44 today. Drove through Joplin and didn't notice a whole lot of damage along the interstate from the tornado.

Glad you had a good day. When I checked out the path it only crossed I-44 once, and then destroyed most of Joplin.

YYeah when I was through on Tuesday it was not too damaged along 44. They still getting assistance cleaning and rebuilding. The 81 in Virginia had more damage around that petri from that tornado. I hope I never see one of those things up close. Had one miss my house by about 3 miles on May 31 1985. Historical day for my area.

No. Saegertown Pa Crawford county. We had a slew of them roll thru that day. We weren't hit too hard but areas around us were destroyed.

Makes me remember the one that hit Pittsburgh a few years back, not as bad as the one your talking about but it did do damage to alot of houses.

I remember people always saying will never get tornados here WELL?????
It's amazing what mother nature is capable of.

No doubt. I remember thinking how silly the tornado drills were in school. Till that May 31st. Lol.
I always said I'd like to see one but after seeing the damage I hope to never see another. Maybe Wyoming where there are no people for miles and you can be in sight of one but not close.

Thanks for your posts majestyk! Crete is on the top of my short list. Do you have the option to change the radio in your truck? I'd like to get one in there with the built-in Sirius/XM reciever when my time finally comes. Also, with the APU installed, what do you do for food on the road? Do you get to put in any appliances? Any chance of a pic of your rig so I (we) can get an idea of what we would be getting ourselves into? Keep the posts coming please! :biggrin_25514::yes2557::yes2557:

Alot of the new truck radio's are already set up for sat radio, you just need to buy a receiver box and subscription and plug it into the radio. The box mounts up under the dash somewhere out of the way, and the radio's regular controls also control the sat radio. Just FYI is is cheaper to just buy a small add on receiver, it does the same thing, except it has the controls for the sat radio, and a small display. Either way sat radio has been a great addition to trucking. Good luck with whatever company you go with.

Well my second week has turned out to be fairly good. Yesterday I dropped my General Mills load around 1100 in Roanoke, TX and was given a load that didn't p/u until 1830 from just south of Dallas to Bentonville, AR for a next day delivery. Load was only 350 miles or so and would really screw up my day so I asked if they had something else available that picked up soon. Sure enough they cancelled that ###### load and gave me one picking up at WM in Desoto, TX (suburb of Dallas) heading to Midway, TN. A nice juicy load delivering tomorrow morning early. A bonus was it was heading right through my old home town of Malvern, AR and if things worked perfectly I would be able to make it home with 15 or so minutes to spare for my 25th year class reunion. Just as planned I rolled into town with 15 minutes to spare and had my mom pick me up for a quick shower and on to see some good friends that I haven't seen in a loooooooooooong time. Fun was had by all.

    Second week
July 25-26 Memphis, TN -- Woodlawn, OH ---- 537 miles
July 26-27 Woodlawn, OH -- Evandale, OH -- Elk Grove Village, IL --- 333
July 27-29 Elk Grove Village, IL -- West Chicago, IL, -- Roanoke, TX --- 948
    July 29-31 Roanoke, TX -- Desoto, TX -- Midway, TN --- 969
    --------------------------------------------------------------
miles 2787 + whatever I can p/u after I drop this load tomorrow. Should have 6 hours or so left to drive after drop so perhaps will reach another 3K week if all goes well.

Firing up the grill here in Lenoir, TN if anyone reading is around the terminal and wants to borrow some coals:)
