I've hung out with drivers from almost every company or full fledge owner ops, Mexicans, Pakistanis etc.

Most all of them like or can tolerate who they work for. That's good enough for me. And they pay taxes.

    Shaggy Thanks this.

so we got a swift troll and a knight recruiter bashing crete with their real money. its insane.
i have seen a few knight cheerleaders on here get burned out on the 4-600$ a week and move on.
i read all about them trying to get their stolen money back.
i saw them hauling in my area and asked the shipper about the run. she said dont even think about it.
as a peacetime veteran i say there is lots worse than crete and i do local work elsewhere.

    freightwipper and Shaggy Thank this.

Excellent point, and I wouldn't be asking myself: why the hell am I wasting my time reading this mess?

In the old days you would probably ask a trucker about his company at a truck stop. The end result was not much better, but at least you had to chance to notice the guy who was claiming to make 'big dollars' was bumming cigarettes from you, hadn't had a shower in a month, was driving a piece of junk with bald tires that was spreading more oil around the planet than the exxon valdez and the gulf BP oil rig disaster, and didn't have any teeth.

I drove for J&M out of Milledgeville making 20% of cheap freight and zero deadhead paid and backbreaker torsion bar suspension. Most every driver there was on constant lookout for another job, although it was a good job if you had felonies or DUIs, or like me, no experience.

Anyway, there was this guy who kept a pay stub in his wallet from probably the best week he ever had there and it may have involved some back pay because it was over $400. He would show it to folks when he was bragging about his job, saying it was last weeks check and he made that every week. He would have his thumb over the date and stick it back in his wallet real fast if somebody started leaning in for a closer look.

But we all know folks who like to keep up appearances. He was in his forties, spent a lot of money on clothes and boots, kept his hair and beard like Kenny Rogers and lived in a rented single wide trailer.

Very true. Many smaller outfits do require the experience. But to lay all the cards on the table, Crete is not going to start a newbie at the rate they are advertising anyway.

I have no real standing to say whether Crete is good or bad. I have heard many things. I have compared what they do, where they do it, who they do it for, and what they compensate on the O/O side of things, and I wouldn't go anywhere near them based on what I have already, unless I was desperate. I talk to many Crete drivers, mostly just #### chat, and most seem like stand up guys. And they seem ok with where they are.

With at least 4 months experience a driver will start at .01 CPM less than a driver with a year experience.
When I came here (with less than a year experience) Shaffer drivers were paid .44 CPM and they put in writing I will be paid .43 CPM until I reached 1 year experience.
I didn't believe it but they put it in writing before I quit my first driving job.
The only catch is they make you go out with a trainer again... even if you had 11 1/2 months experience you go out with a trainer.
It sucks but I was paid more my couple week of training than I was at my first OTR job working a full time lol.

Will Crete get my home every six to 14 days and put me in a 2015 Volvo 780?
