Has anyone out there started with Crete recently? My husband is set for testing & orientation with them next week and I'm trying to put together a budget.
He's been told that he'll be staying in a motel for the first 3 nights and to bring clothing and toiletries for as much as two weeks because once orientation is finished he'll go straight out on the road. Should we plan on his eating in restaurants for all of his meals?

Well thats kind-a funny, I had good exp and the trainer said at least 7 days, (after 3 days he wanted to let me go on my own), mostly to make sure they knew , I knew how to log, I stayed out 3 weeks because I wanted too, and I was having a good time with the trainer. He didn't know I was a fleet Mgr and driver iI told him about week 2 - LOL, they were paying me 600 wk, being retired mil, money was not the focus at the time, the trainer said I never had anyone that didn't want to get out of the truck early. I used that time to learn what he new about the co., to learn the rules, and make the rules work for me. After that we rec'd notice to return to a term, and I ended up with his truck, and he was issued a new one. The trk that was issued to me was his and newer and had low miles. I was in that truck for about 3 days, and then home with a load.

Total time from start to finish was about 4 weeks ( my choice ), that included 4 days that included the phys and class room, and the 3 weeks on the road with the trainer and about 3 days for them to route me home.

The first thing that I told the trainer that I was assigned was, we had to get a few things out of the way ( he looked at me like o-#### here we go-lol), rule number 1, this is your truck,- rule number 2, I am here to learn what you know,- and number 3,- lets go get dinner-its on me!

I bought him dinner and or lunch often, and thk him for his Patience.

    We hit it off,

From what I can see if you are from Ga, u will have an easier time getting home when you should.

I am from Fl and its a hit or miss some times.

Yeah, motel is on Crete during orientation. Hubby needs to travel light during training. Leave the extras at home for now. Just the essentials. Transfering all his stuff from motel to truck and possibly another truck is a PITA. He should bring powdered laundry soap in a sandwich baggy to do a couple loads while on the road, if necessary. Buying it is expensive at the truck stops. Have a couple boxes of wheat thins or something to munch on in his suitcase.
