When I was driving 48 I was amazed at how many drivers with fast trucks would pass me 3 or 4 times in a day and still roll into the truck stop after me at the end of a days work.
A truck is designed for pulling freight, not racing down the freeway.
My first OTR job at KLLM I had a 58mph cabover, which I ran at 56 to get the fuel bonus. The truck I drive now is not even governed but I rarely drive it over 60mph.
The fact is that Crete has a good pay scale which hurts it when competing against other carriers that don't for freight. They have to save money, by saving fuel.

The other day at a baseball game, I overheard a woman behind me, mention that she was very fearfull of losing her job, because the place that shes working is loosing money like a sive, but then she said that the brass had just got a 130 thousand dollar pay increase, I was sure puzzled, but by no means surprised. Something is radically wrong this picture ?

The reason so many are thrown to the wolves these days is because a lot of 'Merihkuns have gotten too wealthy for their own good. They want to keep what they have, so they outsource if they actually own businesses and don't invest in new businesses if they don't. They invest their mulla in portfolios and expect somebody else to shoulder all the risk while they themselves demand a high return on their investments. It's all rational, sure, but the people preserve the spirit of resistance. One of these days, maybe in the next generation coming up, the volcano is going to blow. Working people who get thrown in the trash just so somebody can keep his standard of living are gonna rise up, boys and girls. Working people or those who've been cast out aren't gonna play the role of doormat much longer.

When your making over .41 cpm just enjoy the view, let the others pass you by, we all know what they are making! we park next to each other at the end of the day and pull the same freight! DRIVE SAFE

I talked to a Crete recruiter today, Can you take the truck home for time off or do you leave it at a yard? Looks like the nearest yard is 180 miles away from me. I hate the 62 mph but I like the 7 cents more per mile and the practical route pay more.

You can take the truck and trailer home or drop the trailer nearby and bobtail home. -
Thanks Longbed

Hey JD, the problem with split speeds is NOT made up fact. Check Virginia's study on this. I hate ignorance!

Rear-end collisions predominantly occur in the daytime under clear, unobstructed viewing conditions and usually involve a lead vehicle that is stopped at the time of collision. These facts suggest that driver inattention plays a significant causal role in rear-end collisions, and mitigation efforts have therefore focused largely on development of warning technologies to alert drivers of an impending crash.Last edited: Jun 24, 2008
