My girlfriend is highly interested in getting into the industry as a driver. Unfortunately, she has a past drug charge against her for possession of marijuana... I'll skip the details leading to the charge. My question to the board: Is there any company that will even review the charge and the circumstances leading up to said charge or should she even bother trying to pursue a driving career? Thanks for any input anyone may have...

IMO most companies won't care about the how or why. Just that its there. How old is it?
-
Felony or misdemeanor?

The only thing Panther cares about is if she did any time in jail. If it was less than a year she'd be good to go.

If a company should conduct a criminal background check it will show up. However, it really will depend on the company itself, the degree of the charge and the amount of time that has passed. I've seen a lot of charges for potential applicant and for the most part you'd be surprised.

Length of time since it occurred will be the deciding factor. Some companies require 5 years some will want 10 years since it happened.

I have friends with a background, and they can't find a single thing on themselves and they know what county they were charged/convicted in. -
Just be honest and up front about the situation. Don't embellish or cast blame...just admit it occurred!
Honesty about ones past carries a lot of weight!
