Don't let anyone lie to you, yes there are road blocks in the great USA and they are there waiting to rob you, just go through Arkansas during their 72 hour deal. DOT, Vehicle Enforcement, Public Safety or what every else you want to call them are waiting around every corner, i just got pulled in to KY coop the other day and they said they have been ordered to give a ticket for every thing they can, as i farm and own a truck company, we got in to it with KY bad last year over using our truck and dropdeck to haul our own hay. needless to say we did it anyway and even meet mr. dot on our county road and he had to take the ditch so i could get by and he never said a word, his face said it all.

The only place I can think of where it is certain you will run into criminals and you should stay away from if at all possible is:

    DISPATCHER'S OFFICE!!!!

Hijackers are here, albeit, they are not all that prevalent on our roads as of yet. If you use some common sense you can avoid most problems. After you load with a high value load of meat, groceries, or consumer goods, don't stop close to where you loaded, go down the road a couple of hundred miles. Don't hang out in crappy big city truck stops and whatever you do, never talk about what you are hauling with people you don't know. Rest areas can be a bit dodgy after dark, if there aren't other trucks around, ask yourself what is wrong with this picture and move on down the road.

Well some of the finest serial killers here in the states were truck drivers. You should be safe from them though.
