A comment on FAST....make sure that your carrier ( and shipper too, but I may be wrong ) are FAST certified. If you flash your FAST card at the border, but your carrier isn't certified, you'll be in deep trouble.

If your pulling a spread AB only counts one axle @9000kg but you are alowed 17000kg on the drives and 5500kg on the steering
I really don't get the spread rule we can pull tridems here :biggrin_25510:

As far as the 10' 1" spread axle trailers are concerned, I just talked to the transportation ministries from SK,AB, BC, and YT, and all 4 said a 10 1 is legal to run but limited to 20,000 pounds. (37,000 pounds in YT). I keep seeing guys post that a 10 1 is not legal.???

Well, I was born in Montreal, but came to Ca. at 1 year old. I am a Canadian citizen and have a 'green card'. I have only been to Canada 4 times in 64 years. I do not have a passport. I have not been to Canada since 1984. With the new requirements, I wouldn't care to hassle the border requirements. I don't know why I'm posting this, as nobody cares. Excuse me while I pour another cold one, will be back soon.

It is because things like the Alberta Regulations Summary doesn't address non-conforming equipment. As you have found out, a 10'1" spread is treated as a single axle.

LNF, yes the website doesnt really address a 10 1, even tho it's legal. But I see where haulhand posts that his guys "get a hard time" in certain coops with a spread. I'm wondering what "a hard time" entails.

my comment about spreads and tridems is because the maximum spread on a tridem is 3.1m real close to 10'1'' so where do they justify road damage from spreads??:biggrin_25515:
