I have a Hopper bottom trailer and i haul grain. I live in MS and I have B tags on my truck and trailer but i have been asked to go to Lousiana about 40 miles and pick up a load and bring it back to MS. Do i have to get new tags or am I legal to go out of state.

Not sure what b tags are, but you can buy a permit in La. if needed at the POE. (if you pass one). Also, ask your bossman.

Or, you can go on, and if you get caught, act and talk really dumb, blame it on your boss, and promise never to do it again, since you didn't know it was illegial. It doesn't hurt to talk about how poor you are, and how you need this job to keep your house.

Not sure what "B" tags are. Is your rig licensed for just Miss.?

I wouldn't do that in LA... ever see the movie Cool Hand Luke? All those convicts were truck drivers!

Got caught in La in 1976 with no bingo card, no fuel permits, no log book, under 21 and from out of state, no authority with a regulated load, in the old truck in my avitar. Talked (begged) my way out with a warning. They said something about never coming back to La, I believe.:biggrin_25523:

I'm just guessing B tags are probably like Farm Tags here in Texas. If you get caught most likely they are going to fine you and make you pay for a full registration and all the goodies. I know if you get caught hauling non-exempt on farm tags in TX you will pay a fine plus have to get your truck registered with combination plates and a token trailer tag before you will be allowed to procede. My former employer learned that the hard way.
