Do you have to have a cdl to cross state lines? My boss says that they recently changed it to where you don't. Could you point me to the source if you have to.

######## on your boss.
You are paid to take a load from one state to another? Hell yes, CDL time.
If you run IN STATE without crossing a state line, YES you need a CDL if you are paid to haul it.
There is only a very small group of trucking possible without a CDL, in my time it was either a Farm only type of stuff. I once witnessed a 8 year old hauling a carnival flat 18 upgrade near Scranton with much debate on the radio, seems he was legal. Go figure. Then.
21 years old, air brake endorsement, combination vehicle for class A, 26000 pounds for a Class B and anything smaller like a car for example in Commerical has to be also CDL. -
We have 2 vehicles under 26,000 lbs we run with chauffeurs with medical card.

If you are running inside your state borders (intrastate), you can be 18 or older. If you are crossing state lines (interstate), you must be 21 or older. -
is that legal?
