Crossing the Border with a tractor full of stuff of an unknown driver

That's what drug smugglers call a Mule. Doesn't know he has the drugs with him.

The first time I crossed was in a truck I was just assigned to me with 500K miles on it. I get pulled into inspection and he asks me "I'm going to take a swab of the the interior for explosives and drug residue. I'm not going to find anything, right?" I said "I don't know. I just got this truck. I don't know what people have been doing in it the last 500,000 miles." Makes you rethink the whole border crossing thing.

 

You did the right thing. The company sounds like a complete joke & operation. Its an unfortunate business practice especially for a OTR (Highway) operation. No driver should ever feel forced to drive a Truck that they don't feel comfortable driving and especially when they are crossing a international border crossing. Daily there are Ads online seeking numerous drivers so it comes down to sensible company business practices or else those job ads will keep accumulating.

 

You did exactly right except you forgot to flip them the bird on the way out.

File a complaint with every gooberment agency available.

They might as well start with me on that swabbing. I do a fair amount of shooting.

This swabbing took me clear back to a policy at th airport where TSA used a pad to dab the outside of carry on bags without unzipping and searching same.

The morning of 9-11 when one of the bags was with a Terrorist believed to be full of razor blades used to cut throats of the crew up front. If the TSA only opened it and found a mess of blades inside of same, they would have had a very interesting morning.

 

That funny. The TSA didn't exist before 9/11. Security was provided by the airlines at that airport. Also box cutters were not on a do not fly list. Sounds funny but a lot of things were not on the list.
