If you had a wife and kids what would you do? If you want a wife are you going to find her over the road, at a man camp, or at home every night?
I live in south Texas the oil field is always hiring. There’s a reason.
OTR is always hiring. There’s a reason.
Work to live. Don’t live to work. Stay home especially for the same pay.

Been OTR working for and not for family.

    Currently in the oilfield.

    Oilfield, every time.

Never been involved in food service so I can’t speak to that end.

Like another poster said every industry can be cyclical, that’s just business.

Getting paid by the hour to sit at a pipeyard for 10 hours to not even get loaded and go somewhere else, yep, I’ll take that lol.

I ended up taking the otr route. My logic being that it was the only fleeting opportunity. The oil fields will still be there and if there's a downturn in the near future I'd probably have been ####ed regardless and food service will most certainly always be there. I'm a member of the llc now and we've purchased two more trucks so I'm optimistic about my choice but I'm saving up to buy a camper and will be heading taking it to west tex if things go south.

That’s awesome! Hope things continue to go well. I was OTR my whole time before coming out here, I love it.

They are fixing to deliver wheat to 5 major nations in this year's crops should they hold up over there.

Family screws you over well. So don't

Food service is very physical and for what?

SO, 1500 a week, oilfield slosh tanker. Pay me.

Keep count of the reported rig count in the USA and the state you are in. Keep in mid the POL situation in the USA vs the world.
