CRST has clarified an anonymous report that it is reducing some of its OTR trucking operations.

The shutdown was originally reported by a source connected with the company, and CRST confirmed and clarified the news in an email to FreightWaves Wednesday night.

The company said, “In response to the challenging over-the-road market, CRST announced plans today to redistribute much of its Capacity Solutions OTR fleet operations to other business units. This will result in a reduction of nearly 200 trucks from this fleet, and a redeployment of approximately 100 to other growing areas of the business. The Capacity Solutions brokerage service, customers and assets remain unchanged.”

With almost 6000 trucks in it's fleet, I don't think moving 300 around means they're going out of business.

Freightwaves misreported it and posted it like the whole company closing down and the other media outlets ran with it like wildfire. I'd be very surprised if CRST doesn't sue them as I imagined it caused a crap ton of chaos and might have damaged customer relations. almost every one of the trucking pages I follow where talking about it.

When CRST is having issues, those newbies wanting to go into the industry and buy a brand new shiny Trucks need to think about it a few more times. I will be honest as big, known and current top 10 Truck Load Carrier as they are this speaks volumes. And I honestly didn't think they would see these problems by showing signs of hitting the wall financially. Top 50 Trucking Companies 2025 As much as many of us believe we are at the peak of the bottoming out list of Carriers surprises keep on occurring. Makes you wonder how much worse it will get? 5% of their fleet is a start and hopefully thats all it becomes.

I don't understand the thread title, they're merely downsizing.

The articles I've read, I didn't interpret it that CRST was closing. It seemed pretty clear they downsizing/redistributing. Kudos to the author for clearing the air.
