If you started driving in 2004, why does it say "4 years" next to Trucker? What is your break-even point?

I became a member here 4 years thats probably why is showing 4 years and I dont c the relevance of pointing that out.this is how I calculate my break even point:70cpm fuel,50cpm driver 15cpm maintenance 10cpm equipment upgrade10cpm taxes 5cpm other expenses equal 1.6 pm.its common mistake to consider the break even point a base to start negotiating a rate for a load, lot of other factors come into play.if a going rate in a certain area is 2.5pm im not taking a 2 dollars load because its above my b.e.p.i have to take in consideration what im hauling where its going lenght of the trip extra stops tolls when it delivers etc.i booked my first load thru landstar and to my surprise the same load was posted on the malone board and guess what,Im getting 200 dollars more plus landstar is paying for the tolls.i c u in every malone thread and I dont think u r a driver.i thank malone for giving me a job but I advise anybody new to trucking to look elswhere.

No, I don't run for Malone, just have been following them for a while now. If this other deal pays off, I will be taking it but, if it doesn't, Malone is a choice for me, unfortunately. I say, unfortunately because a L/P is not the best way to get into being an O/O but for me, it may be the only way.

I have been driving since May 2008, with a little time off during deployments to Iraq. My situation, well wife is no longer driving a truck so, I want to go back to pulling a flat. More than anything, I want to be an O/O and that is what I will do, come heck or high water. I refuse to continue to driver as a company driver for 10 years until I save up enough money to buy a truck of today. I believe I can buy a 2003 or later and survive for 10/15 years. I will retire from "having to work" to living off the land by the age of 65, Lord willing of course. I have some money saved up but, I also have a plan. A plan conceived through 5 years of education and research. I have run into a driver on this forum that will sell me his truck for a good price but, I have to work for the company the truck is contracted to, until that truck is paid off. I just pray that the company will except my PSP, not good. If they don't except me, well Malone will....I think.

You sound like a recruiter to me, trying to help the companies image. Damage control?

I have been in a small trucking business now for over three years with my athorithy. My truck keep breaking down so it just took me down. I am thing of the Crst malone L/P plan to gain some capitol back and possiabily some onership in a truck in a year or so with a buy out. I am older so I don't need so much in th living area on pay. Most of it will go back in the truck. Am I crazy?---

I might add that I broke down in Utah a little over a year ago where I lost an engine and the 40 miles down the road I lost the transmission. The repair shop left the drive train loose then it came apart. All of that was down time I just couldn't recover from. It was In the Salt Lake area for over a month and a half. My company name is still there and the experiance with load boards, etc is still there -- 100% ratings. Could have gotten a business loan if I was manking a large amount of money. All I have done in the trucking bussiness has been flat bed and car hauling over 14 years a total. Good credit.--

I strongly suspect you are not a driver. You might be some one hired by CRST to write on this forums. Not only you are defending the undefendable many of the things you wrote about are delberately general and non specific that it exposes you as not being a driver. I left MTL and come to CRST Malone for a while but I made very little money. It was so bad that I had to literally run away. I Positively know that CRST has media and publicity consultant firm owned by a guy by the name of Tim who goes and disputes any thing bad written about CRST. They don't pay him much, so he also works as an outside recruiter for them. He is my neighbour and he brought me to CRST. Bad mistake.

That is laughable to me I am far from any of that. I am just a truck driver dating back to the year of 1975 you do remember 1975? I am also an aircraft mechanic. I will be sighning on with CRST Malone and I will make my own decision as to what happens. If you are just a driver you may not make it. You need some one to hold your hand you won't make it as an owner/operator. If you can find your own loads and know something about the trucking business then you may do alright. I have had experience with that. As an owner operator I have been broke down in 2012 for over a month and half in Salt Lake City. If you know any thing about business then you will know that most sucessful business people have failed two to three times before they made it work. Making it work is not a mater of being rich but doing things your way. Good luck my friend--May be I can meet up with you some time and buy a cup of coffee. -- Old "trapper" yes still have my beaver,fox,muskrat,coon- traps.
